Hi,

I used to have Serv-U 3 back in the day and it worked wonderfully. I
finally decided to get out of the stone age and get v11. What a
difference. Being already familiar with Servu from the past it was
not hard to figure things out. the one thing that v11 does not do is
show on a per user basis what folders he has access to based on what
groups he belongs to all in one place. In v3 if the folders were done
at a group level then they could not be edited at the user level, but
at least you could see what is what.

Here is my dilemma. I am setting up a test user to test a few things
out Here is the setup

Username: Test
Home dir: d:\holding (locked)
Group:Audiobooks

within the audiobook group i have 1 folder setup
- \\computername\sharename\folder
- i have it virtually mapped so that it showed up in the users home
folder as "Audiobooks" - This works fine.

Now i want to see if i could deny a single folder within there. but
only for one user, not for the entire group. So i went to the test
user and added \\computername\sharename\folder\folder1 to his access
and removed all access to it by unchecking all boxes leaving only
inherit there. I saved the user and tried. When i get to the
audiobook folder it lists the folder i wanted to hide and deny access
to.

I then decided to see if i coudl do it at a group level. So i went to
the group and added the folder i wanted to hide there and then placed
it above the \\computername\sharename\folder listing. Figuring if it
was like servu 3 if the first folder said to deny then it would be
denied. However the same thing happens again. I can still see the
folder listed there and i can still access it. I had removed the
folder at the user level as well in case that over rode whatever was
at the group level.

In servu 3 that is how thigns worked. now i cannot seem to get it to
work. Not sure why.

Any ideas?

I'll see if I can test this.. Which 11 version are you running (bugs
tend to get fixed quit quickly so the exact version number would
help)..
