panopticism how i understood from the text is a science where everybody everything is under the control of somebody or something.so this something is discipline,which is met everywhere.and without it of cource our society would be worse.and this doesn't mean that the person who controls over us must be o tiranist.for example our parents are not despots.but they are ones who want us to be etic,of course every person from every family represents the culture and etics of  his /her family.
