Hi All,

I've got a CDH-4.4.0-1 cluster and have installed R, R-studio with RHadoop and RMR. RHBase is the only bit that is failing.

[root@USHERLXNN1 opt]# R CMD INSTALL rhbase_1.1.tar.gz
* installing to library /usr/lib64/R/library
* installing *source* package rhbase ...
** libs
g++ -m64 -I/usr/include/R -DNDEBUG  -I/usr/local/include   -I. -g  -DHAVE_UINTPTR_T -DHAVE_NETDB_H=1 -fpermissive -DHAVE_INTTYPES_H -DHAVE_NETINET_IN_H -I./gen_cpp `pkg-config --cflags thrift` -Wall -fpic  -O2 -g -pipe -Wall -Wp,-D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 -fexceptions -fstack-protector --param=ssp-buffer-size=4 -m64 -mtune=generic  -c Hbase.cpp -o Hbase.o
Package thrift was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `thrift.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'thrift' found
.......

I'm installing on CDH-4.4.0-1 cluster where Cloudera installs everything under /opt/cloudera.... Thrift is installed as it is part of the distro and as it is required by Hbase. But I suspect that I need other bits of Thrift installed, namely libraries and such.

Am I right in thinking this?

Regards
TimW

Hi,

Did you build the thrift library per the wiki? https://github.com/RevolutionAnalytics/RHadoop/wiki/rhbase
