Is there a way to specify compression (e.g. snappy) while creating avro.input.format?

I successfully read avro file using this example.

The actual files in our data warehouse are snappy compressed. Is there a way to specify compression

while creating avro.input.format?

OK, specifying snappy is not needed, avro automatically does it. The error was somewhere else.
