Greetings friends,

I just wanted to make sure to let you know that all members of the Rio Grande Valley Zeitgeist Movement are invited and encouraged to attend and support this and other protest events regarding the growing rejection of our current political, social and economic systems. As the population begins to realize the failures and corruption inherent in our traditional structures of false authority, we must be able to provide them the information and education necessary to reach those conclusions that will lead to a better world for all people. Thank you for your time and attention, and I hope to see you at the event!

Dear supporter,

The Occupy movement is gathering steam around the country and the world, with over 200 Occupy Wall Street actions and solidarity organizations in the US and many more around the world. And right here in the RGV, Occupy McAllen has been connecting people from all over the Valley who are fed up with the increasing economic inequality in this country and want to do something about it.

That's why tomorrow, Occupy McAllen is joining over 660 actions in 79 countries in an international day of action against economic inequality on a global scale. We'll be occupying Archer Park in McAllen in an all day celebration of unity among the 99% of the U.S. population losing their political voice and financial footing. We'll have rallies at noon and 5 PM with lots of cool activities before, in between, and after!

Will you join us? RSVP for the event on facebook! - www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=141723599260385

The Occupy movement is a response to rising global inequality. The top 1 percent of the population, which controls most of the nation's wealth, has driven the economy into the ground and then taken U.S. taxpayer money to bail itself out. Those same corporate elites have created the housing and jobs crisis that have put so many Americans out of work and their homes. Abroad they drive free trade policies that ruin local economies and drive poor people out of their countries and into the U.S. in search of a living.

On October 6, 2011, Occupy McAllen took to the streets to voice growing disenchantment with the current economic and political system. More than 300 people of all ages, backgrounds, and political beliefs gathered in Archer Park and marched towards the McAllen Chamber of Commerce and Chase Tower, holding signs, chanting and discussing with their fellow marchers all the reasons that brought them to the march and demonstration.

Tomorrow's event will be the next step for the local movement down the road toward a US and world that works for 100% of us, not just the richest 1%. While there is much to change in our economic and political systems, the first step is creating public spaces where we can speak to our neighbors and community members, and together decide what changes are necessary to make this a nation truly of the people, by the people, and for the people.

Will you walk with us down that road?
