Dear Friends

I am not sure if  I have forwarded this email  earlier....

Our association has been constantly following up   on storm water canal  since 2011 and other problems to the local authority. This time we had sent an email to all the authorities including CM cell (refer email below) hoping to draw some attention.

I am not sure if the ongoing canal work along cauvery street is due to only our followup.. But we are seeing some light at the end of the tunnel.. Hope this  canal work will serve  us during the next rain.. They are digging the canal exactly as we had proposed.. Pls see the image attached ...

However the question is whether this canal will be extended till the dead end of the Cauvery street to connect the main canal

After RGL Omega bus stop, the area belongs to Kollapakkam. So the small length of the canal should be constructed by Kolappakam Panchayat.. We need to ensure that the canal is properly led to the Mainstream else it is going to be major problem for us again during this rainy season.. Hope the local authorities will complete the canal in all respect

A surprise is , last month, our association has received a medal from corporation , which I could not collect as I was not at home.   There could be various  other reasons for awarding a medal to our association  !

If it is with Jaagatheeswaran , I request him to post a photo of it.

warm regards
G.Ranganathan

Dear Sir/Madam

I am forwarding/copying this email to many   authorities with a hope  that  it   may reach the concerned authority . Please spare few minutes from your busy schedule and forward this email to  the concerned authority if the below matter does not fall under your scope of administration and planning.

We would like to bring to your kind attention the sufferings of  our locality due to the 2011 and 2015 flood and the out flow of excess Chembarambakkam water into our locality due to poor canal maintenance near our locality.

We thank  the corporation for laying the roads in our locality and  building the concrete main canal at the dead end of Mugalivakkam which is supposed to flush the excess water from Chembarambakkam lake to adyar river.

However this canal water is stagnant due to silt in and around Mugalivakkam locality.  Also we think with appropriate storm water drains as feeder to the canal, flood water can be better controlled and diverted to Adyar river without affecting the residential locality.  Today the newly laid roads have been dug open by local authorities/public as an immediate solution to prevent water logging near their houses.  We request for a long term solution so as to avoid any further waste of public money and loss of residential property

We have also re-attached the same  proposed solution to address the problem. Please re-consider this.

With so many representations...through various forums, our request is unheeded so far..   We are paying property tax and our locality comes under corporation limits Alandur/ Zone 12   /Ward 156.

Please go thru the below email, which is a response received from the corporation stopflooding cell in 2012.

With water still entering from neighbouring locality into our premises due to ongoing rain, today, our locality looks like a small  island.

I request the concerned authority again to look into this perennial problem and resolve with a permanent solution.

Thanking you in advance.

warm regards

Dear Sir

At the begining let me thank you on behalf of our association for starting this wonderful service. This is an excellent initiative by the corporation to get feedback, suggestions  from the residents.

I am writing this email on behalf of our RGL dream bungalow residents' association, Cauvery street, Lakshmi Nagar, Mugalivakkam. Chennai -125. Our residence  falls under Ward No. 156 under Alandur Zone (Zone No. 12, If I am correct). Ours is a gated community with around 100 individual housess. Near our locality, there are around 2000 houses. During every rainy season , as excess water is released from Chembaramabakkam lake, the flood water, all the way from, Chembarambakkam, Mangaadu, Moulivakkam, etc flows through the residential locality and passes through our cauvery street and enters into our gated community. The flood water further further passes thru the nearby cultivated paddy field thereby damaging the crop also. This year the situation was even worse. It has totally damaged the recently laid road in cauvery street.  The sad part is, very near to our residence, at the end of the cauvery street, there is a canal which should server as a feeder line for the water discharged from the Chembarambakkm lake. This canal water, I think flows into the neary by adyar river near Nandambakkam. However this canal is not effective as we hear, it is blocked due to silt, debris or  garbage.

Inorder to avoid this flood water entering into our locality, we have the following requests.

  1. The canal can be desilted  at the blockage points so that the excess released water from chembarambakkam lake flows thru the canal all along till it reaches the adyar river
  2. A storm water drain can be built along the streets so that water from cauvery street and other near by streets flows through the drain and reaches the canal.
I have attached a simple pdf schematic diagram showing the canal and the proposed storm water drain. Please have a look at it. The corporation may also validate and based on its expertise can provide appropriate solution.

May we request the concerned authorities to look into the above issue  and help the residents of Mugalivakkam

Thanking you in advance.

yours sincerely

I have talked to two persons in different occasions  involved in surveying and checking the bed level of the canal.
I raised the same doubt whether the new drain will be connected to the canal.
They have confirmed  that it will be connected  to the canal after some time.

Dear Friends,

I would like to bring to your kind notice that to rebuild the compound wall which is demolished due to flood at the end of Phase - IV for the given below reason.

01. Several times street dogs, Cow & Buffalo enter through this way and its spoiled plants and dust bin which is kept outside of the house.

02. 4 times i saw a snake on the Phase - IV road side and 2 times snake entered my house.

03. Last week my dog was heavily barked at Mid night and i came out of my house at the two people try to enter that way. And also they thrown out my dog by pieces of concrete stone and the same found by me inside of my house.

As we all knows , prevention is better than cure , hence on behalf of Phase- IV, i request you to kindly rebuild compound wall without any further delay.

Thanks & Regards

Kind Attn:
We are in the process of constructing the compound wall (which was affected during the floods). We had, initially planned to construct the wall together (since both Mr Raghuvir's property and Mr Venkatkrishnan's property at the end of Phase IV were affected). Unfortunately, the contractor who had completed the compound wall construction for Mr Raghuvir's property was not interested in taking up the work together (citing paucity of time as the reason).

I am, in the process of talking to people (who can recommend reliable contractors) to complete the task.

As regards the issues faced by everyone (as noted in trail mail), you would appreciate that we would be affected more than anyone. Taking your views into account, request you to bear with us for the next few days, by which time, we would have finalized something concrete.

Trust this is fine

Dear All

Thanks Mr.Rakesh for your prompt response.

We are committed to construct the compound wall to ensure safety and health of Mr.Rakesh's family and other residents are not compromised.

Our initial plan was to build a compound wall along with my neighbor. Since he has already constructed, we will go ahead and construct it at the earliest.

Request this group to help Mr.Rakesh in finding a suitable contractor so that we can expedite the work. Thanks and appreciate all your support.

Best Regards

Dear Sir,
Mr G M Muthukumar is badly impacted since he is staying in the boundary  of phase4. Intrusion of snakes, cattle, thieves will cause serious problems not only for phase 4 , but also for the whole campus.
Request  you to construct the compound wall in phase 4  at the earliest.

Dear Sir

We can definitely do that.. We are already in  discussion with a mason,

However Just wanted to ensure that, after we start constructing the wall, there is no interruption from the Corporation staff or anyone else as it has happened earlier

Please note that, during the flood days, the councilor has visited our premises and told us there is no provision for a wall in the plan because of which the wall was broken.
Also there are different versions with in our premises about the P4 plan layout. Some want a wall and some do not want.  We would like to get a unanimous voice

Can anyone in the P4 share the plan layout of P4 with boundaries .

We tried reaching RGL builder for an opinion on this but could not reach them

As the construction of the wall involves, expense from association money, If all agree and stand by the association decision , we can go ahead in constructing the wall irrespective of the wall provision in the plan layout

There are three possible scenario

  • We go as per the plan layout
  • We construct the wall without seeking any verification permission and face the consequence later whether favourable or unfavourable
  • We construct a meshed gate to prevent cattle/unauthorised  entry
Also, we need support from all residents in terms of physical presence when there is any untoward incident esp from corporation side

Would like to hear from residents before  10th April

Hi,

I'm a tenant in c7, and find that the pavement blocks that are dug up by the ppl who were putting in the street lights are left scattered and the tiles are  breaking up and going waste.

Any idea on what could be done for this??

Dear Mr Thomas

We are of the understanding that the corporation staff will not mend it.. We have to do it on our own..
However for any further action, we need to wait until the corp. staff complete their cable laying job.. and erecting the lamp post.

In worst case we may have to do it at our expenses along with other common expenses , regarding which the association had sent an email to all residents.. We are yet to complete the fund collection exercise...

We may have to increase the fund to be collected and address this as well.

However for now, we may have to bear with the inconvenience...

warm regards
