Hi there.

We are looking forward to trying this amazing piece of software, but we are running Yosemite so I guess we have to wait for the next update to run it properly. Are there any plans for Kinect 2 support? It's a shame the official website seems so abandoned but I guess you guess behind it are busy doing different (paid) projects.

All the best and keep up the great work! Going to order a mount and donate as soon as we can run the software on Yosemite.

Hi Thor,

We are currently in an incubation period rethinking the next generation of the toolkit. We have a private windows version of DepthKit that works for Kinect 2 if you'd like to get in touch off list to learn more.

Best,

Hi Nick,

Thanks for your interest in DepthKit

We have a private version of the software that works with Kinect 2 that we are releasing on a case by case basis because it's changed a lot since the public version, and is still very experimental.

Please get in touch with me off list to discuss if you're up for giving it a go :)

best,

Hi there Sha,

We are currently only taking on partnerships with DepthKit VR that involve specific projects. If you have a proposal, please get in touch. We hope to have a Alpha to share more broadly in the near future but can make no commitments in terms of timing.

Thanks for your interest and enthusiasm about DepthKIt

Hi James:
  Thank you for the reply,
yes, i do have a project which is trying to use kinect2, but i don't know what's the outcome look like from kinect2 yet.
And also im helping a few theater related companies in China to develope some interactive media projects, they are looking for a tool that can be used on stage for real time effects and VR projects. And i think the depthkit is one of the best tools to show.
We can talk in details if you are interested in theater performance.
Thank you.

Hi I have one question concerning the new version of the two kit you're now working on. Is there any place where I can see some kind of video clip of the quality you can get from just recording facial expressions in 3d with a video overlay ?

Hey Sha!
Just a quick note because this seems really aligned with your interests in realtime & VR. We're releasing a kit that includes the Kinect V2 mount and software that supports integration with Unity for VR through our Kickstarter. Read more here and please get in touch via depthKit @ specular.cc with questions.

Hi Alexander:

Thank you for sending me the email.
I have followed the blackout project since the very beginning, quick question about it, after pledging 290, when will I receive the kit?
Cheers.

You will receive it shortly after the Kickstarter completes. I would estimate the first week of January.

Dear Alexander,

Does this version (from kickstarter) going to get support for multiple kinects when you're done developing it?

Hi Stanislaw,

I answered this privately but will also answer here publicly for anyone else who is interested.

The immediate version we will ship does not support multi cam workflow, but this is something we are developing with the intention of releasing and will give early access to our beta testing partners who get on board during the Kickstarter.

For those who are willing to take a dive with us early on as we're developing this new system, we'll make sure to provide new versions as we go as best we can.

Thanks!

Yes. It will mature as a license that corresponds with the features that are included in a studio license which we anticipate will include multi camera calibration.

We're very grateful to our Kickstarter backers and early adopters and we'll be finding any way we can to 'grandfather' you in to the highest appropriate license.
