From what I had understood:
1. MSK signal is not spectrally efficient for a narrow BW channel.
2. we can choose a suitable Gaussian filter to suppress the side lobes and reach a desired cut-off frequency.
3. By varying the Bandwidth Time product(BT) of Gaussian filter, we could arrive at a desired cutoff frequency f-3dB.
4. In GSM, The BT is choosen to be 0.3 and the cut-off frequency is 81.25kHz.
5. Raw Bit rate = f-3dB/BT
= 81.25 * 10^3 / 0.3
= 270.83333 kHz.
