This has been setup to provide a place for General Information about
the Real Food project, basically a catch-all for anything which
doesn't fit anywhere else.

To start us off. The purpose of this forum is to provide information.
Hopefully as un-biased as human beings can make it. We will try not to
preach, and just provide the information as truthfully and as fully as
we can, and let you the reader and contributor make your own decisions
about what you will do with this information.

The topic is Food and Nutrition, what we eat, how we grow it, and what
it does to us. Anything and everything around the issue of Food.
Please read the mission statement for a more concise explanation.

Keep in mind that we encourage a free exchange of ideas and
information and don't make differences of opinion personal.

labels and do I want to be taken for a ride?

Not so much the fact that the industry adds cheaper and cheaper
ingredients to dilute the real deal bothers me, but that nobody
exposes this to the public.
And so here is my 2 cents worth of information on chocolate additives,
derived from Wikipedia this time:

Not sure this fits, but this it sure saves money.
by crackerman » Thu Oct 28, 2010 8:06 pm

Heard two figures during the last week:
One said, we throw away 50% of our food, another said " more than 25%
"
This one at least helps you save some money, even in case you are not
poor:

Fishing down the food chain - several links
by crackerman » Thu Nov 18, 2010 4:23 pm

Some scientists say we fish predators first and then the bait fish, a
theory now being contested.
Another survey counts 16 large ecosystems as a basis for their
research, others say this leaves out large systems in China and India,
as a consequence changing results.
Here you find some links on those discussions:
