How are other people handling when a record is in use?

Retry a few times then error out?

Spawn off another thread and retry (with timeout)?

I was thinking it would be great to be able to send a message to the client asking them to close the record.  Wonder if this would be a possible feature to add to RFM?

Unfortunately, it's impossible to add a general inter-client messaging feature to RFM, since FM Server has no inter-client messaging feature.

That said, you could create a home-grown messaging system using tables & fields.
