Dear All,
Coming 13th and 17th December, Gujarat is all set to decide its fate. Campaigning has never been more aggressive and the state Electoral Commission is expecting a record voter turnout. The question remains – will the registered 3.78 crore voters rise to the occasion and elect their leaders? And most importantly, will the youth remain skeptical about the importance of its vote in shaping Gujarat?
Tomorrow, on 9th December 2012, Research Foundation for Governance in India (RFGI) is organising an event on "Youth Power: Will my vote change Gujarat?" from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA). The event will start with a 2 minutes Vox-Pop Film shot by RFGI volunteers on the streets of Ahmedabad capturing the views of the common people on the upcoming elections.
For the youth, 'to vote or not to vote' - that is the question! On one hand, the role of youth is very crucial in India's development but on the other hand, many youngsters feel disconnected from the present political systems. There are other issues of representation of their voices and addressing their concerns of building a better India. The discussion forum will be informal and the interaction will be non partisan. It would involve prominent youth from different backgrounds and serve as a platform for them to discuss their ideas on importance of voting.
Join us in the event as we take a call on exercising our rights to vote. Your vote counts – every vote counts.
With best wishes,
Team RFGI
