I have a question, I'm gonna open a ticket anyway but still want to ask. Is it normal, that when you have Acrobat Reader DC installed, install Acrobat Pro via Adobe CC and update the Reader, that it opens the reader and not Acrobat Pro? We switched our Acrobat Reader from 32 (pls don't ask why^^) to 64 bit and now I see that some people with Acrobat Pro "lose" the pro version after an update of the Reader. An reinstall of Acrobat Pro via Adobe CC is a workaround, but not a solution.

Every time I do a pdf build, TeXnic center opens my Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (version 2019.010.20098), but does not actually open the document in the Reader; I have to do that manually from the File menu or from recently opened files. If my reader is already open, then TeXnic center does not build the file at all, but runs into a fatal error when I try to build. Worst of all, after each successful build, TeXnic center completely freezes for something like two full minutes, finally popping up an error message (see attached image).

This article describes the protected PDF readers that are supported for Azure Information Protection (AIP). Protected PDF readers enable users to open those encrypted PDFs and view the sensitive information contained.

Encrypting your PDFs with AIP ensures that unauthorized people cannot read the file's content. Protected PDF readers that support AIP verify that you've been granted permissions to open the document, and also decrypt the content for you.

If you're unable to open your protected PDF using the recommended reader, the document may be protected in a previous format. For example, Microsoft SharePoint currently uses an older format for PDF documents in IRM-protected libraries.

If the package fails on Windows 8.1 or earlier, this might be due to the installation of kb2919355 (which is a dependency of this package) if your system is not up-to-date. This KB requires a reboot of the system before the adobereader package installs successfully.

Acrobat Reader is a type of freeware developed by Adobe systems as a .pdf reader (Portable Document Format). Users can view, print and email .pdf documents along with newer premium features which include converting files to .pdf and vice versa and creating professional, interactive fillable forms such as questionnaires or application forms. Acrobat Reader automatically installs a plug-in for Netscape Navigator allowing users to view .pdf forms through their web browser.

Adobe developed the Portable Document Format to standardize electronic document handling. PDF, the file format that carries the business world on its back, is everywhere, from product manuals to legal documents. To open, view, and edit PDFs, you need a PDF reader -- for example, Adobe's free Reader. Despite competition from simpler tools, Reader remains the standard the others are judged against. We looked at the latest version of Reader, Adobe Reader X. With it you can view and annotate all PDF files, sign documents electronically, and access optional Adobe Online subscription services directly from inside its interface.

As we noted, Adobe Reader X is the standard for freeware PDF readers, none of which can match Reader's capabilities and extras. Lighter, simpler tools are available, but Adobe's free reader remains the one to beat.
