to RF Explorer
I’ve recently worked with a Python script named, that uses an SDR dongle and the rtl-sdr Python library, specifically the rtl_power library to detect frequency power levels of a select range of frequencies. The project can be found on GitHub at and is the result of work done by some cybersecurity threat researchers:

I wanted to share this research with this group to see if this capability could be ported, or applied using the RF Explorer Python framework to produce the same result using power level results from the RF Explorer. It would take some work to determine how computes the power level values to identify the location of microphone listening devices…this would be an interesting capability.

Please reference the research paper and YouTube video for details:

I’ll be looking into the Salamandra source code and the RF Explorer Python API to determine feasibility of implementing this with RF Explorer.

Thoughts, comments, or is it even possible to do with RF Explorer Python?
