Just received the 6G combo, and looking for a directional type antenna to use with this unit.  We do a lot of wireless internet work, and need to be able to locate the source of interference in the field.  Anyone find any optional antenna to do this?
Thanks.

Make your own can-tenna if your frequency of interest is 2.4ghz.  They are easy and cheap to make and have good gain' and directionality.

Hello,
Another low cost option might be to try using a 850-6000 MHz PCB Log Periodic Antenna with your 6G combo. I frequently use the following antenna from ebay with my 3G combo. The antenna is roughly 4" x 6" in size and is specified as having a typical forward gain of 6dBi. For about $15.00 it has been a very nice addition to my growing RF Explorer toolkit.

Ariel would be able to comment on the use of this type of antenna more authoritatively.

Regards,
Frank

I agree log periodic and Yagi are best directional antennas with wideband coverage. I cannot tell about these specific eBay models though.

If you need (or are ok with) narrowband coverage, a patch antenna is typically more affordable and compact, with comparable directivity.

Just an FYI, I posted a short review of these PC board antennas from Kent Electronics in Dec. 2012:

Cheers, Ken
