We are happy to release RF Explorer firmware v1.12B30 with support for WiFi Analyzer feature in the 6G models: Download link.

Previous versions only supported WiFi channels in the 2.4Ghz range. This is immediately available for RF Explorer 6G, 6G Combo and WiFi Combo.

Covered channels and frequencies are listed below:

One problem we faced while developing the WiFi Analyzer for 5GHz is the large number of channels and lack of official standards. Therefore we selected the ones more frequently used so we can fit 13 channels in the limited LCD screen. A future option will allow to select a different configuration where less used channels can be listed, too.

Known limitation: RF Explorer for Windows latest version available does not correctly interpret these channels, so this new firmware is intended for standalone use only. If you use it together with connected PC, frequency readings and channel numbers won't be correct. This will be resolved in an upcoming RF Explorer for Windows release in April.

We just released v1.12B31 with a fix required for stability in new WiFi Analyzer mode at 5GHz.

Problem: We found a problem where certain <Start Frequency> configuration may lead to hang "pre-calibrating..." screen when coming back from WiFi Analyzer 5GHz mode into Spectrum Analyzer mode.
Workaround: If you get this problem with v1.12B30, use the MENU button to manually select a 100MHz span. The v1.12B31 fixes this problem completely.

an update in approach for the choice of channels (at least with RF explorer for windows)?  it is important to be able to display the U-NII-2C band (100-144) with wifi analyzer.  This channel with DFS are interesting, allowing greater power, but it should be monitored that no radar or weather station uses these channels..
and channel upper 149 can't be used in Europe

thanks

We are looking for ways to allow this in the device, but may be difficult.

In the RF Explorer for Windows this should be available soon, we do not have RAM limitations there.

Best,
