Girls Hostel is an Indian comedy-drama web series that originally premiered on Sony LIV on December 8, 2018.[1] The show revolves around the lives of girls residing in a hostel at a medical institute, highlighting the challenges they face in obtaining basic amenities and fostering inclusivity.[2] It is created by Shreyasi Sharma and directed by Hanish D Kalia.[3]
The third season of Girls Hostel, also referred to as Girls Hostel 3.0, continues the story from the previous seasons. The characters have progressed by a year, with the juniors becoming seniors and preparing to welcome new students into the complex ecosystem of the hostel. The season explores personal conflicts and the reactions of the surrounding environment. One of the standout characters in the series is Jo, portrayed by Srishti Shrivastava. Jo, initially a misfit, presents herself with flamboyance and a "don't mess with me" attitude. However, beneath her tough exterior lies a girl who yearns to stand up for herself. The show acknowledges Jo's inner struggles as she makes a life-changing decision that alters the course of the entire narrative. The remaining cast members play their respective roles as per the script, with some characters bordering on caricatures. While the series attempts to delve into relevant themes, some subplots and conflicts are resolved too quickly, resulting in an incomplete and purposeless narrative. Furthermore, the absence of family backgrounds for the characters, which were emphasized in previous seasons, raises questions about the show's consistency and the audience's investment in the characters' personal lives.[6][7][8]
Girls Hostel 3.0 received mixed reviews from viewers and critics. Some appreciated the relatable portrayal of hostel life and the exploration of relevant issues such as gender fluidity, expectations from parents, and anxiety at a young age. The performances of the main cast members, including Ahsaas Channa, Srishti Shrivastava, and Parul Gulati, were praised for their natural and convincing portrayal of student life.
The hostel is home to approximately 130 students, with dorm rooms spread across four levels in addition to hosting ancillary spaces like a pantry, recreational areas as well as social spaces. The ground floor comprises twelve double-occupancy rooms along with a double-height reception, pantry, and indoor activity lounge where students can organize gatherings and social events.
The design for the Girls' Hostel Block, part of the St. Andrews Institute of Technology and Management, took its cues from the adjacent boys' hostel block and features the same material palette of concrete and brick, while a diagonal staircase adds interest to the facade.
"With limited space available along the northern façade of the hostel, we thought that a double-skin facade would be ideal in addressing concerns of thermal comfort in response to the hot and dry climate of the region," ZED Lab founder Sachin Rastogi told Dezeen.
Senbagam girls Hostel has Ground plus 5 floors. This fully furnished hostel provides a comfortable stay, with a safe and a conducive environment for the girl students. For the safety of girls, it is equipped with 24 * 7 surveillance cameras, security guards and biometric attendance. This hostel provides WiFi, power backup and purified water facility. Students can spend their leisure time in the TV hall. Eatery shops, Photocopier service are also available near the block.
Senbagam block is a north facing building, with a dining hall in the ground floor. Rooms are furnished with a bed, wardrobe, study table, and chair. The rooms are spacious and are available on triple sharing and six sharing basis. Common bathrooms with cold and hot water facility are available. The block can house above 400 students.
Welcome to ESQ-A block, a well furnished Girls hostel. This residential facility offers a homely accommodation, like living in a flat with balconies. This block has 30 flats (G + 9) and 2 lifts. Medical clinic room is there very nearby. Each flat is available on two, three and four sharing basis with a study hall. All the flats are Non AC and some of the flats are provided with attached washrooms.
Block entrance is facing east and all rooms are provided with study tables and storage lockers. Cold and hot water facilities, 24 x 7 Wi-fi facilities, indoor and outdoor games, jogging and walking tracks are also available. Eatery shops, photocopier service are present near the premises. It has security guards surveillance, power backup and biometric attendance system which ensure the utmost security for girls.
Welcome to Engineering Staff Quarters B, also known as ESQ-B block, is a well furnished Girls hostel. This residential facility offers a homely accommodation, like living in a flat with balconies. This block has 40 flats (G + 9) and 2 lifts. Clinic room is available to ensure the medical facilities for the students. Each flat is available on two and three sharing basis with a study hall. All the flats are Non AC and some of the flats are provided with attached washrooms.

3. Reservations in accommodation to reserved categories as approved by the University of Delhi are followed. However, the OBC candidates are treated as general candidates for the purpose of hostel accommodation as per norms of the University.
The Hostel has twenty seven (27) furnished rooms. The rooms are allotted on sharing basis among two residents. Cleaning is done on daily basis by the house keeping staff. The washrooms are separate from the rooms within the hostel.
For the recreation of residents the hostel has a fully air-conditioned common room. News-papers and magazines are provided in the Common Room. Carom-board, Chess and Table Tennis facilities are also available to the residents in the Common Room. A large wall mounted LCD Television with a modest home theater is also in place.
The residents are at liberty to withdraw their admission from the hostel at any time. The following rule shall be applicable for settlement of account and refund of charges & security on withdrawal of admission from the Hostel:
The Hostel supports academic learning, conducting a supervised Prep Programme for girls, providing support from a dedicated liaison teacher and having computer suites for study and completion of homework.

In 1931 the earthquake wrecked most of the boarding accommodation. The girls and staff had to set up a temporary camp under canvas until parents could finally arrive to collect their girls, or girls could be safely transported home.
A new hostel was built and opened in October 1940 and in 1961 was expanded to include B wing, the recreation room, five music cubicles and the laundry. The new building was named Hewett House, after the first Headmistress of the school Miss M. Hewett.
In 1971 the purchase of a nearby property provided land for the building of Matthews House which was opened in 1988. In 1978 the High School Board decided to allow girls at Hewett House as five day boarders going home each weekend, the roll grew to 140 boarders.
The University is currently providing hostel accommodation to the deserving meritorious students. There are 16 hostels with limited seats. Hostel seats are provided strictly on merit and first come first serve basis. Reservation of seats for S.C. and S.T. candidates is made as per rules of the University.
Only undergraduate female students, who have secured admission in the first year at Hansraj College, are eligible to apply for hostel accommodation provided their parents are not residing in Delhi or its neighborhood. i.e. National Capital Region (NCR). Admission to the hostel cannot be claimed as a matter of right by any student admitted to the College.
