Action Jackson is a 2014 Indian Hindi-language action thriller film directed by Prabhu Deva and produced by Gordhan P. Tanwani and Sunil Lulla.[4] The film features Ajay Devgn in a dual role, alongside Sonakshi Sinha, Yami Gautam, Manasvi Mamgai, Kunaal Roy Kapur and Anandaraj.
Action Jackson received mixed to negative reviews from critics who praised Devgn's performances, cinematography, music and stylized action sequences, but criticised its humor, plot and screenwriting.
Prarthna Sarkar from International Business Times gave Action Jackson 3 out of 5 stars stating it is a "bad dream" for viewers.[6] Gayatri Sarkar from Zee News gave 1 star out of 5 and wrote that the film failed to entertain the audience.[7] Deepanjana Paul from Firstpost praised the font used for the credits saying it was legible.[8] Rajeev Masand rated the film 3 out of 5, feeling that the film has excessive action.[9] Under a headline calling the film a feminist milestone, Raja Sen for Rediff rated it 3 out of 5 stars, saying that while the film is filled with "relentless absurdity", the women propel the narrative in a refreshing way.[10] Rachit Gupta of Filmfare gave a similar rating of 3 out of 5 stars stating that the genre mixing of unscripted comedy and stylized action is " too inconsistent to garner any appreciation".[11] Mumbai Mirror similarly gave 3 out of 5 stars and responded positively.[12]
Action Jackson is a 1988 American action film directed by Craig R. Baxley (in his feature directorial debut), produced by Joel Silver, and starring Carl Weathers, Vanity, Sharon Stone and Craig T. The crime spree supplies the movie with a big action opening that is totally illogical (how do the killers appear and disappear at will?) and several other inexplicable moments (why did that guy have the exploding briefcase handcuffed to his wrist?). None of the mysteries are explained at the end. Nor is any attempt made to fit together the two incompatible styles in the movie: (1) the scenes where Weathers turns into a speeded-up Superman who can run 40 miles an hour and jump out of tall buildings, and (2) the slice-of-life realism of welfare hotels and police headquarters.

A real oddball of a movie here, that seemed like an attempt to turn Rocky and Predator star Carl Weathers into a full-fledged action hero. Obviously the attempt didn't go too far, but Action Jackson is one that still remains a rather big guilty pleasure of mine. Of course, it's Joel Silver producing as well which always indicates some degree of high-quality.
It's like really well made action movie cliche clip art elevated by a great cast. As I watched it I just kept thinking "yep... that's what an action movie is like," so I feel like that means it worked right?
