Hi.

I was wondering if we could have a detailed, step-by-step tutorial on how to use (R)?ex with LXD containers as its targets.

I'm a beginner with LXD, and all I know about it is what I saw on Gabor's tutorial video.

Of course, it might be possible that such a tutorial as the one I am asking is not possible to be created, so I am prepared for that answer as well.

Thank you,

- Alexander

it would be nice, yes!

Rex has some built-in support to manage LXC containers, but personally
I'm not overly familiar with LXD yet (at least not enough to know what's
the exact difference).

If an LXD container is something you can SSH into in order to run
commands and change files, then I think it should work like any other
SSH endpoint. This worked great with LXC containers in a previous
project of mine, I can imagine it could work similarly with LXD.

It seems like you are already in the perfect spot to explore this topic
further :) Please give it a try and let us know how it goes!

If you're stuck, join us on IRC where there are more people who might be
able to lend a hand. I'd be interested to learn about your experience!

Cheers,
FErki

Sorry, mistake in my previous email: I’m a beginner with Rex, not with LXD.

It’s possible to ssh only to local LXD containers. But containers residing on a remote machine are not accessible over ssh, they are accessible via the ‘lxc’ command.

$ lxc exec remote-server:container-name bash

I will visit IRC and chat more there.
