  • The Mountain View Senior Center will be closed Monday, Feb. 20, in observance of President's Day.
  • Our Annual Pancake Breakfast returns Saturday, Feb. 11 from 9-11 a.m. (Details in Special Events).
  • AARP Tax prep returns Feb. 8 with appointments required. (Details in Social Services).
  • Workshops this month include Healthy Aging Brain, Drive Smart/Age Well, and Addressing Loneliness, Anxiety, and Depression. (Details in Workshops).
  • Ping pong balls are available for sale ($2 each) at the Front Desk. Patrons are encouraged to bring their own equipment.

The Healthy Aging Brain
What constitutes a healthy aging brain? Learn from Claudia Padula, Ph. D, on when older adults should seek clinical care for their cognitive concerns and review simple strategies to keep your brain function as optimal as possible for as long as possible.

Age Well, Drive Smart by California Highway Patrol (CHP)
Take part in the California Highway Patrol’s (CHP) Age Well, Drive Smart senior driver education class. Age Well, Drive Smart program was developed to assist senior drivers to continue to drive safely. This workshop is taught by a CHP Officer and will cover topics such as aging and its effects on safe driving, maintaining good physical health, self-assessment, and more.

Addressing Loneliness, Anxiety, and Depression by Kaiser Permanente
This workshop will include an overview of what anxiety, depression, and loneliness can look like for Seniors. Learn concrete skills for managing uncomfortable emotions as well as addressing loss of independence, grief, illness, and life transitions.

Please join us for our Senior Pancake Breakfast at the Mountain View Senior Center on Saturday, Feb. 11 from 9 – 11 a.m. This event will include a hot breakfast of 2 pancakes, 2 breakfast sausages, 1 serving of eggs and a side of fruit. Tickets are on sale for $5 at the Front Desk during normal business hours, from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. from 1/3 – 2/6. Day of walk-ins cannot be accommodated. Please call 650-903-6330 for any questions. Event is for 55 and over but you may bring any age person along with you. 
SENIOR NUTRITION PROGRAM
Indoor Dining
Community Services Agency’s Senior Nutrition Program has a full dine in meal distribution in the Social Hall of the Mountain View Senior Center. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. Sign in will begin at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served starting at 11:45 a.m. The Social Hall will close at 1 p.m.

Grab and go is no longer offered. Contact Meals on Wheels Mountain View at 650-323-2022 for home delivery from the County of Santa Clara.

Movies are on Tuesdays and Fridays at 1 p.m.
Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m.
Come to one of our movie showings in Multipurpose Room B.
Maximum seating for movies is 36. First come, first serve.
When available, screenings have captions for the hard-of-hearing. There is no fee to enjoy these popular movies and seating begins 30 minutes before the show.
NOTE: Please bundle up or bring a lap blanket with you to the movie. The room tends to be on the cooler side.

SOCIAL SERVICES
The Second Harvest Free Grocery Program distribution is located in Multipurpose Room A. The Program will operate from 8:30 – 10 a.m. on the first through fourth Tuesday of each month. To register for Second Harvest please call 1-800-984-3663.
AARP tax aide certified volunteers will return to provide free assistance and e-filing for low-to-moderate income taxpayers, especially for those over 60. In-person appointments will take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning Feb. 8, 2023 through April 13, 2023. To schedule an appointment, please call the Senior Center at 650-903-6330 or stop by the Front Desk.
SALA has returned to in-person appointments at the Senior Center on the first Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. In order to receive free legal services, patrons must be at least 60 years of age and a Santa Clara County resident. To schedule an appointment please call the Senior Center Front Desk at 650-903-6330.
HICAP provides free and objective information and counseling about Medicare. Appointments are available on the third Monday of each month. Volunteer counselors can help you understand your specific rights and health care options. To schedule an appointment, stop by the Front Desk or call 650-903-6330.
