An Afternoon of Chamber Music
performed by Florin Parvulescu & Nicholas Dold on October 10
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) welcomes a live audience to Tateuchi Hall on Sunday, October 10 at 2:00pm PDT as Florin Parvulescu and Nicholas Dold perform a program of chamber music from beloved composers. The duo will be joined by several up-and-coming student musicians, all alumni of CSMA’s Summer Music Institute at Tateuchi Hall intensive music program. Violinist Florin Parvulescu, a member of the San Francisco Symphony, also serves as the Artistic Director for CSMA’s Summer Music Institute at Tateuchi Hall. He is joining forces with collaborative pianist and Summer Music Institute at Tateuchi Hall faculty member Nicholas Dold to present a matinee chamber music concert featuring compositions from Antonín Dvořák, Felix Mendelssohn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Dmitri Shostakovich and Eugène Ysaÿe. Parvulescu and Dold will be performing alongside Summer Music Institute at Tateuchi Hall participants Sakurako Ando, violin; Kayla Lee, violin; Andromeda Kepecs, violin; Jonah Blaydes-Greenberg, viola; Fiona Huang, cello; and Mike Wen, piano. Florin Parvulescu, a native of Romania, joined the San Francisco Symphony in 1998. He holds degrees from the Peabody Conservatory of Music and the Juilliard Preparatory Division. He was previously a member of the Saint Louis Symphony and Baltimore Symphony, won the 1993 Marbury Competition at the Peabody Conservatory and was a prizewinner in the 1994 Yale Gordon Concerto Competition. He also attended the American Academy of Conducting at the Aspen Music Festival.
California-based pianist Nicholas Dold has an active career performing across the United States as both a solo and collaborative musician. He received his graduate and undergraduate degrees at Indiana University, where he studied piano performance, chamber music and collaborative piano. He has been a featured artist for Minnesota Public Radio's "Performance Today", the Orchestral Institute of Napa Valley, Chamber Music Silicon Valley, the Santa Cruz Baroque Festival, Steinway of Phoenix- Arizona, the Ladies Musical Club of Seattle and the University of Alaska - Fairbanks.
Please note: CSMA requires all audience members, staff and artists to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Prior to entering Tateuchi Hall, concertgoers will be asked to provide proof of vaccination through a QR code generated by the Digital COVID-19 Vaccine Record website, an original physical vaccination card or a photograph of it. In addition, children under 12 years of age are not permitted to attend Community Concerts at this time. Audience members will be required to wear a mask at all times inside Tateuchi Hall.
This event is part of CSMA’s 2021-2022 Community Concert Series. In keeping with CSMA’s mission to provide Arts for All, Community Concerts are free and open to the public. Seating is first-come-first-served; there is no assigned seating and tickets are not available in advance.
