Dear Community Members,
We’re excited to invite you to a free community event as part of Silicon Valley Reads 2026 with visionary legal scholar john a. powell, author of The Power of Bridging: How to Build a World Where We All Belong, and world-renowned social psychologist Jennifer L. Eberhardt, author of Biased: Uncovering the Hidden Prejudice That Shapes What We See, Think, and Do. Together, they will explore the roots of implicit bias and the architecture of othering.
Join us to learn how to soothe tensions, bridge divides, and foster a sense of belonging in a complex world.
john a. powell is Director of the Othering and Belonging Institute and Professor of Law, African American, and Ethnic Studies at the University of California, Berkeley.
A social psychologist at Stanford University, Jennifer L. Eberhardt conducts research on race and inequality. She not only highlights the negative impact that racial bias can have on us in these settings — she provides clear direction on what we can do about it.
The evening will include a Q&A session followed by a book signing. Admission is free, though registration is encouraged. Please feel free to share this invitation with others in the community.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Many thanks to the City of Palo Alto, Silicon Valley Reads, Stanford University, and Friends of the Palo Alto Library for their support.
