Also interesting is the fact that while the tablet is Android based, they're
providing their own application framework which can also build for Windows
mobile (the framework appears to be based on RhoMobile
http://rhomobile.com/). Presumably they're doing this in an attempt to get
a foothold into companies who are already invested in that platform.
While not a new concept, the use of tablets in a retail environment totally
makes sense. Being able to have product information at your fingertips
anywhere in a store is an infinitely better experience than having to trudge
back to a desk or kiosk and look information up on a desktop. In fact,
Motorola's presentation makes me wonder if sales people will even be
necessary in the future envisioned by Motorola. I imagine customers could
pick up a tablet when entering a retail store and do all the product
shopping/comparisons themselves.
Anyway, thought this was an interesting mobile development.

Thanks, Scott. I can't say I'm much impressed by it, though. It's
still a 7-in form factor and I'm really waiting for 8 1/2x11 to
appear. I don't see anything that separates them from the pack except
for the on-the-fly swappable battery. And what does Android 2.3.4
enhanced with enterprise functionality mean?
But the real kicker for me is... given that this is Motorola we're
talking about, don't you think they could have put a sim card slot in
there somewhere? I wouldn't mind having a tablet that would give me
cellphone data capabilities instead of just wifi. That would be a real
iPad/iPhone killer. Apple won't do it because they'd have to kill off
two product lines and merge them into one.
I'm looking forward to kicking the RhoMobile tires, although I notice
it installed yet another copy of Eclipse on my system and then wanted
to install the same git version I've already got - luckily I could
abort that one.
