If you haven't heard already, GameSalad has announced that they are changing
into a game publishing company where developers must publish games under
their name, GameSalad Direct, at a percentage fee, in exchange for
marketing/publicity for the game. The user community has been in an uproar
for the last few days, and many folks claim to be jumping ship in favor of
other development tools, including Corona.
Meanwhile, Corona has been making the best of ill will toward GameSalad and
has welcomed irate GS developers with open arms. There's a free Webinar
scheduled tomorrow morning by Corona's Eric Herrmann: "How to get started
with Corona Game Edition" October 15, at 11 AM PST.
Eric will talk through the process of setting up Corona, getting started
with making a game, how to use their Sample Apps, something of a live
"Getting Started Guide". Attendees are welcome to ask questions along the
way and meet your fellow new Corona users.

Meeting participants are only required to have the Adobe Flash Player
installed.
Note that Corona is not just for making games, and has a lower priced
version of the tool for non-game developers.
Also, there is a live Corona meetup scheduled for the same day in Palo Alto,
CA at 6PM where Corona users and staff can meet/ask questions in person.

I'll be there :-)
And keep your eye on RocketEngine, an upcoming game development tool out of
Finland. RocketPack, the developers, are having a contest to name their
first public game, currently titled Cats vs Dogs:
