Tablet Price Drops?

Some show and tell: Groupon currently has a deal on the 10.1" Toshiba Thrive
tablet for $299. Seems like a great price for a 10 inch Honeycomb equipped
device. While the form factor is said to be bulky, the ports/connectivity
look quite good, comparable to a laptop. A good LiveCode test device?

If you're still itching to get an HP TouchPad, there seem to be a ton of
Amazon Marketplace sellers offering the device for around $275. Seems like
this will be the last of it, as HP recently sent out a notice that they have
no plans to build additional units, but who really knows for sure.

With HP's TouchPad snafu, and Amazon sacrificing hardware cost for media
sales on its Kindle Fire, it's likely the holidays will see all kinds of
tablet price drops. Found the following while doing an online price
comparison with the Thrive:

Asus Eee Pad Transformer 10.1", 16GB, Android 3.0 ~$390
ViewSonic gTablet 10.1", 16GB, Android 2.2 ~$270
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1", 16GB, Android 3.1 ~$490
Acer Iconia Tab A500 10.1", 16GB, Android 3.0 ~$350

For myself, I'm still looking to buy test hardware for LiveCode apps, and I
assume others are as well, so please consider sharing any deals you come
across.

Thanks for this. FWIW, I ordered an Amazon Fire the first day it went on sale. It will be interesting to see how it performs. I have had a Prime account for some time now and am looking forward to watching videos on the Fire.

I picked up a refurbished Acer Iconia 500 for $290 last week and so
far I'm happy with it. Still trying to figure out Android...
