The Rev guys are now offering a $99 a pre-release price for it, but I'm
wondering if it's hampered by the same limitations of LiveCode on the
desktop:

- limited animation capabilities
- no sub-pixel object positioning
- bogs down when multiple messages are being sent
- poor screen refresh during movement/animation

How much of LiveCode is in the iOS version? I believe there's only some
text and image support, yes?

Thanks for sharing any experience/comments.

I'm still working with web technologies, and have an app ALMOST ready for submission. What's holding me up is that Apple now requires that iPhone/iPod apps run without modification on the iPad. Something is different about Mobile Safari on the iPad, at least in regard to finding image sizes. There may also be a fundamental difference in using the SQLite local database. Anyway, it's worth noting that these woods are deep, and it may take quite a while before a comprehensive LiveCode solution for iPhone/iPod/iPad is available.

Thanks George, but was your app built in RevMobile? It sounds like you've
built a web based app. I thought RevMobile built standalone mobile apps --
am I mistaken?

Sorry I wasn't clear. I've built a standalone iPhone/iPod Touch app using Javascript, jQuery, jQTouch, and PhoneGap. I have not tried using the latest RevMobile plugin, and I don't know if it could have created the same app. At this pre-alpha point, I'm reluctant to spend the time on RevMobile.

Scott,

LiveCode for iOS is not ready right now. I has the same limitations of LiveCode anywhere plus some other limitations. It still needs to go some steps. When it is released and the first apps make to the appstore then it will be a whole new game and probably the price will go up.

Maybe $99 is an investment now, while it still limited, the amount of things that actually work is quite good.
