In main.h and main.cpp you can see some definitions and
implementations for CD Checking (primitive security).
Did you get rid of those?

I've seen that in the xbox code they're (obviously) deleted, but I
don't know if they're still rounding in the actual builds.

CheckCD, CheckNFO, etc. are enabled. in our release. You will see the
cd check popping up with the latest build. But clicking Cancel to CD
Check will start Re-Volt anyway. For now it's just a reminder to
insert cd if you want to test redbook.

I think that checking for NFO and ZZZ are unnecessary, they're just
old security protection.

To me, the CD-Check is another mark in the surface of Re-Volt. It may
not be as important as for example redbook, but I still think it's
worth keeping. Just the fact that the dialog pops up every time you
try launch it without using the CD makes me smile a bit, even tho it's
unfair for those who had their CD broken somehow.

It seems that there are some people that feels nostalgia here :D.

PD: What do you think about a -nocdcheck argument or something like
that?
Maybe the more generic -nocheck, for NFO and ZZZ also?

I was wondering what to do with the cd check myself. As ADX said, a
commandline is a good solution, but v1.2 is meant to make re-volt a
freeware: I don't think everyone will like an annoying CD nag when
they download it. (unless we start selling re-volt CD's
ourselves :P ). Also, for information, v1.2 will replace miles sound
system with MCI for both cd audio and mp3. (then mss will be used only
for sound fx).

In that case, perhaps I have a better idea of when it could be useful.
If the CD is detected, the In-Game music would be set to on by default
(and greyed out if the CD isn't). Next time you run Re-Volt again tho,
the CD Check notification will show to notify you that you haven't
inserted the CD.

Related to the grey-out of In-game music, I expect that MP3 support
has it's own option as some people (like me) wants both Redbook music
on stock tracks and MP3 music in custom tracks. :)
