Super

I decided not to review this knife until I have owned it for a couple of months and actually had a chance to use it. This is one of the best knives that I own. It is solid and sharp. I practiced using it to split a limb and while the blade is a bit short it works well in the smaller diameter pieces, which all I am concerned with. It may come with the best sheath on the market. I get tired of buying knives and then having to pay extra to get an after market functional sheath. The sheath that comes with this knife is rugged and has a perfect size outer pouch for a sharpening stone or fire starter.
The only negative comment might be on the size of the handle. I have large hands and at first I felt that the handle wasn't large enough. But in use, that turns out to not be a problem.

The sheath is not the knife
By Jacque Strapp
If you're on the fence about buying this knife, let me help you decide... buy it. You won't be disappointed. It's a hefty and thick blade, looks to be good for lots of chopping - I'm impressed with it and not much more $$ than a Becker. Blade ships sharp but you should touch it up a bit to your liking. For a smaller knife, it's hefty, which I like.
***UPDATE***
Did some more chopping the other day. The Falcon Ranger does a decent job but the BK2 performs better in the chopping department due to its longer handle and better center of gravity. Blades are pretty much the same.

No one should buy a knife because of its sheath first. And in the Ranger Falcon's case, you get a sheath that's decent (or passable) at best. I would prefer a smaller sheath, this one is roughly 1 1/2 times longer than the knife itself. It's your typical nylon sheath for a no-name knife. It's clumpy and adds unnecessary weight (and size) with the knife in it. It doesn't need double snap-on straps at the handle. It makes for cumbersome (and clumsy) knife release from any position as the straps get in the way when you pull the knife out. The plastic buckle in the front compartment is too big (in my opinion). It's only saving grace is the front compartment.
DO NOT STORE YOUR KNIFE IN THIS SHEATH. It could dull the blade within the plastic insert of the sheath. Then again, you should store your knives in any sheath.
The knife itself is a great deal at about $65.00 with free shipping. A terrific deal. But I'll be shopping for a leather sheath that's better suited for a knife like this when you're out on the field.

Very dependable knife
By David Schneidman
I wouldn't call myself a knife connoisseur or anything, but I definitely am knowledgeable when I come across a good quality knife. Out of the box this knife wasn't the sharpest knife i've come across but that's not an issue. A few strokes across a good sharpening stone and this knife is ready to go. Honestly, after sharpening, I can comfortably say that this knife is one of the most reliable pieces of gear in my survival pack and has become my first choice of a trusted survival knife, followed by my mora bushcraft black. Definitely would recommend this knife to anyone.
