Hello,

I'm trying to setup Review Board (docker install) to talk with a Platic SCM cloud server.
However, be it on 5.0 or 6.0, I always get this error at the top of the page when saving:

Please correct the error below.
cannot use a bytes pattern on a string-like object

Even if the only field I'm filling are the repository type and the repository path.
Repository type: Plastic SCM
Repository path: repo@company@cloud

Is it because it's a cloud repo? I tried with another fake path like repo@server:port but same error.

Thanks in advance for your help,
Regards,
JN

Hi,

The Plastic support is very old and hasn’t been actively maintained for a while. It was originally a contribution from the Plastic devs, but we haven’t had patches in years. I’m not certain it’s even compatible.

However, we do have officially-supported Plastic support on our roadmap, with work going into it as soon as one other piece of work is complete. So I’ll have more on that before long, but right now, I’m sorry to say that there isn’t a suitable workaround in current releases.

Hi Christian,

Thanks for your answer! Do you have an (approximate) ETA for this officially-supported Plastic support?

Regards,
Jean-Noël

My hope is to have an answer for that in the next month. I would like to make Plastic available by early 2024, sooner if feasible (though with the holidays, and some prior commitments, early 2024 is the soonest it'll probably happen).

Hi,

Not much yet. It’s been worked on, and I’m hoping it’ll come together for Review Board 7 (a very small release, due out by April). We’ve hit some snags, though, with the way that Plastic manages authentication on their cloud, and haven’t found a workaround yet.

Essentially, there’s an issue where multiple accesses to the same user account via their API could lead to sessions being disconnected, requiring a full re-login. This is a problem when performed by web servers, which may have multiple in flight.

If we can solve this, then Plastic support will be ready to ship.
