Hi everyone,

We've been working hard on the next major version of Review Board, and I'm happy to say it's available right now!

🥇 Review Board Plus and Enterprise tiers
📝 Office document review and diffing
🏭 Forgejo support
📌 Pinned Quick Access review actions
👑 User role management
✍️ Writing assistance
🔐 Self-signed SSL/TLS certificate management
🌗 Dark Mode everywhere, matching your system theme
🧩 New extension capabilities

And lots more.

We've consolidated our various add-on options into three easy plans:

  • Review Board Community (the same self-supported free version we've always had)
  • Review Board Plus (includes Basic Support for your server, along with features like Document Review, Reports, new integrations, and more)
  • Review Board Enterprise (everything in Plus but with Premium Support, giving priority fixes, backports, custom builds, 24/7/365 emergency assistance, and video/phone chats by appointment)

When you install or upgrade, you'll select and activate a plan for your server. We've made it easy to stay on Community if you'd like. And if you're a paying customer, nothing has to change (but contact us so we can help migrate your current license for Review Board 8!).

Office Document Review supports Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and LibreOffice, letting you review documents right in Review Board. You can upload documents directly or include them in your commits. Track each revision and see what changed between them.

Forgejo is GitHub-alternative that's increasingly common on-prem. Review Board can connect to Forgejo and provide enhanced code review, giving you the best of both products in the privacy of your own network.

User Roles let you differentiate between people and AIs, engineers and doc writers, team leads and contractors. Define any roles you need and integrate them into your policies, approval checks, and tools.

Quick Access actions let you pin the review actions you use the most to the top of your page (Ship It!, Add General Comment, Create Review, or Edit Review). More actions are coming in the future, and extensions can create new actions.

Writing Assistance gives you native spell checking, dictation, AI writing, and other writing capabilities your browser normally provides to every Markdown-capable text field. So you can leave comments with code samples and let your browser flag your typos. This integrates with your browser and operating system's native dictionary.

There's a lot more in this release, including SSL/TLS certificate management, enhanced interdiff filtering, Dark Mode everywhere, performance improvements, and more.

See the official announcement for a tour, and the release notes for all the details.

Review Board subscriptions help us continue to provide open source code review solutions you can keep in your network without selling your data or training AIs on your code. While nothing has to change for your server, we hope you'll explore Review Board Plus and Enterprise.

Thanks. We've worked very hard on this release. And now I'm going to take a nap.
