Hi Toan,
Onshore wind in Australia is already helping the country take huge strides towards its net zero commitments, as well as establishing a vibrant renewables sector that will help deliver on Australia’s enormous offshore wind potential.
According to the Clean Energy Council’s report released in May, onshore wind contributed 13.4% of Australia’s total electricity generation in 2024. This amounted to 32.5 GWh, making up a significant 33.5% share of the country’s renewable energy output that year. In short - wind energy is already powering Australian homes, business and industry.
The momentum for onshore wind remains strong with seven new wind farms connected to the nation’s grid last year and eight new financial commitments to large scale wind projects.
With landmark projects like the 3 GW Bellwether Wind Farm in Western Australia on the horizon, the future of onshore wind in Australia remains bright.

| “Australia is a key growth market for DNV, as it is characterised by a stable regulatory environment and robust governmental commitment to advancing the energy transition. Wind energy already plays a major role as one of Australia's main sources of renewable energy and is set to grow significantly to support the country's net zero goals.” |

As the expansion of onshore wind projects intersects with traditional lands, integrating cultural heritage considerations into project planning is becoming increasingly essential.
The session will draw on ERM’s recent project experience in the practical application of cultural values mapping across selected Asia-Pacific countries. |
