Who Are The People behind this Group

Salam Alekum,

This is a response to Br. Mustafa

The people behind the group are me, my birth name is Jason Smart. I
also use the name Kassim and Abu Hadi.
Also, my sister Leyla and some brothers from different communities in
Michigan. I don't have permission from them to reveal their names but
if they give me permission I will, InShahAllah. Some will be at the
meeting. The group has no formal leadership structure and this point
and it is organized as a neural network (horizontal structure). My
goal is to connect brothers and sisters who are new reverts with
people and resources in the community that may be able to assist
them.

This was the original model in masjid Al Rasoul in Medina during the
time of Rasoulallah. People would come to the masjids with their needs
and issues and those people in the community who could help would
offer their assistance. Many new reverts don't know where to go or who
to turn to and some have compounding issues because they may have been
abandoned by their birth families due to their reversion. So I and my
group wanted to do our part to help with this. Allah(s.w.a) has
blessed us with some guidance and some knowledge and some contacts who
can benefit those is the community who don't know where to turn. So
this was the original idea behind the group. Anyone who believes that
this group will benefit them is invited to join us.

Since this is the first meeting, I don't yet have a good idea who or
how many will attend and what the needs and issues will be, beyond a
general idea I have as my own experience as a revert to Islam. I guess
we'll have to see and go from their. Salam.
