Fall backpacking trip

Every year I try to do two backpacking trips.  This years fall trip will be November 15-16, where TBD but around here, I have a few water falls that I am researching.
Anyone can go, invite anyone but let me know by November 1 so that I can plan camping locations and logistics.

Who is good for the 15th, we are going to Crabtree Falls, https://www.google.com/search?q=crabtree+falls+va   not that far away.  We will be on the AT for a few miles, then to crabtree falls and back to the AT and camp, finish up at the Lynchburg Reservoir

It is looking like maybe the first week of Dec is the most available for people, if it is crazy cold we could make it a long day trip.  Who would be in for either backpacking or the long day trip on Dec. 6th-7th

I'm scheduling a backpacking\camping trip on Friday December 5th.  It will be in Elizabeth Furnace.  We will meet in the Signal Knob Parking lot at 8:00PM and hike to the Strasbourg Reservoir and set up a camp site.   On Saturday morning everyone has the option to hike back to their cars and grab their bike to ride Mudhole Gap or to hike a few of the other trials in the area.

Also, for the folks who like the cold, I'm looking to put together a multi-night trip in January-February.  The Dolly Sods Wilderness is always a favorite that time of year.  Let me know you have any interest.

OK, Dave and I are going to do both Mikes, Friday to Saturday, then drive the hour to crabtree falls and hike it and the AT until Sunday. Let me know if you want to go as well.

For the winter trip, I'm thinking 3 nights in the backcountry to make it worth the drive, but we can adjust if needed..  In years past snowshoes have either been optional or required gear.  The Sods are always amazing that time of year. 

Here are the dates I'm looking at with my preference indicated.  Let me know if this works for you and we can start a separate email with just those that are interested.  Extend to others as well.

Jan 8-11

Jan 22-25  (My preference)

Feb 19-22

Feb 26-Mar1

My daughter's robotics team earned a slot at the state level competition. It is 6-7 dec at JMU. I may be able to do Friday, but am out for Sat.

The tentative plan for this Friday is to meet in the Signal Knob parking lot off 678 Fort Valley Road in Elizabeth Furnace.  We will only hike to Fort Valley Overlook on the Massanutten Trail to set up camp (Just over 2 miles).  This give everyone a night hike.  Some can hike to Signal Knob and back to get more miles.  Bring your bikes if you want to ride mud hole gap in the morning.  If it's raining on Friday night we will cancel the hike and camp.  I'm bringing my son and I don't want it to be the last camping trip he does with me.  We'll make a weather call by 5:00PM on Friday.

Looks like Cole and I are out for the hike and camp out tonight.  Dave is working on a AR Diet the week between Christmas and New Years and Mark and I are hosting a MORE Ride at SRSP on December 20th.  We also have our Revolution Run on January 1st.  You can either run or volunteer to help out.
