I am taking the Substance Painter Launch Pad course by CG Boost which is very detailed but it mostly has to do with using materials and such on objects. I primarily need to learn the ins and outs of hand painting with this program as Blender 3.4 still does not do a very good job in texture painting,
I am trying to hand paint a dog, a lad-beagle mix. Very organic. When I start painting in Substance painter I have the Basic Soft Tool brush and in the Properties Paint panel I have access to the "Base Color" with the color bar beneath it (initially it shows white) When I click on the white bar it brings up the color square with the HSV sliders and the eyedropper. I can then also use the "I" hotkey to select an existing color from my object or from a reference image on my computer screen.
My problem is when I select a brush, like Blur" which has no color and then go back and select the Basic Soft brush I was using before, I no longer have the Base Color in the Properties-Paint panel and the Basic Soft brush no longer paints on my object.
I don't know how to get the Base Color to show again and I cannot figure out why any paint brush I pick no longer makes a mark (brush stroke) on my object. I know I am missing something totally simple here but I cannot figure it out. And there are almost no decent hand painting tutorials on Substance Painter that I can find anywhere on the internet.
The blur brush will automatically make you switch from the paint tool to the smudge tool. Once you go back to your basic soft brush, substance painter will keep using the smudge, which won't paint properly. Make sure you selected the paint tool when you're going back to a basic brush.
@Girijashankar Senapati I am not sure how it works internally but it works if I load those PNGs first in file nodes first as you mentioned. So is it correct that when I set to "Use Texture in Folder" in Tx Manager, it still parses through the scene to see if a texture is loaded in the file node with corresponding color space settings and flags (like ignore colorspace option)?
I created environment variables SUBSTANCE_PAINTER_PLUGINS_PATH and PYTHONPATH to remotely access my modules from perforce.
When accessing SUBSTANCE_PAINTER_PLUGINS_PATH for my remote startup,plugins and modules directories, startup and plugin work. But modules fails to import. This is why I use my PYTHONPATH to import my personal modules within my plugins. That works.
I notice there is not a lot of threads regarding the Substance Painter Python API within the forum. Hence the large amount of views.
I shall share additional post within my findings to help others.
Hi guys im a bit confused. Ive modelled a game environment in Maya LT and in Unity its fine no culling issue and my normals are definately the right size.
When i bring the mesh i want to play around with textures for into substance painter though, it appears transparent in most parts which i find odd.
oh and it might have something to do with it being a duplicated mesh just not sure what ive done wrong, because its an environment and the other half is almost identical (until we set dress it) i thought the easiest thing to do would have been duplicate special. Perhaps i should have just duplicated it and rotated it? (it was grouped first). i just tested one object , used duplicate only and it was fine.
Does anyone know a way to fix it if you have this problem without having to delete and use duplicate and move the objects?
My main tool for my job during last 10 years is Adobe Substance 3D Designer . But I can't express enough how unhappy I am with it . I hate it deeply. It's a huge time sink for nothing. Extremely artist unfriendly. Everything seems done most inconvenient way ever possible.
So Serif please do your version . A one that could work in cooperation with Affinity photo or rather Designer . An advanced procedural layer. I'll buy it happily whatever it would costs if it would be just slightly more convenient or just would update quicker like your embedded docs vs smart objects in Photoshop. Not sure why I still even pay Photoshop subscription. New release few days ago and nothing helpful at all. Only that useless AI shite.
