Like the sometime seemingly forgotten middle child, Reuse often takes a backseat to big brother Source Reduction and "Mom-always-liked-you-best" Recycling in the waste management family. But today in NYC, while still solidly entrenched in the second slot in the waste management hierarchy, Reuse is finally getting the kind of attention it deserves-from playing a major role in the City's recovery after Hurricane Sandy to the increasingly popular Stop 'N' Swap programs run by GrowNYC. Our opening program in the the 2013-14 meeting season will explore these and other reuse topics, with speakers scheduled to include Jessica Schreiber, Program Manager, re-fashionNYC; Ben Rose, General Manager, NYC Center for Materials Reuse (parent program of ReuseNYC); and Carl-Harry Nau and TK Zellers, Program Coordinators for GrowNYC's Stop 'N' Swap program.
