It is somewhat effective as a sanitizer, and you can probably continue to use it as such if you really want to. Well cleaned equipment is unlikely to harbor bugs, and the oxygenating action does kill some of the nasties.
That said, Starsan, with its low contact time, nifty foaming action, and re-usability is an easier, better, and more economical solution. There is no good reason not to use it. A spray bottle full of starsan is perhaps the most useful tool brewers can have.
The concentrate form (which is a very strong acid, and will burn the crap out of you, ruin your countertops, eat holes in your clothes, etc) is sold in a plastic container. If they can get away with that, I see no reason why its dilute form (which is no more acidic than vinegar) would have a problem. Sounds like a CYA thing to me.

The beautiful thing about the toilet seat is that Bemis has their own video that shows you how to install it. Overall, this was an EASY job. I think I only needed a screwdriver (a hazmat suit) and a pair of gloves. The grossness of whatever had been lurking under the seat was revolting, but hey, you can puke right in the toilet. Killing two birds my friends! The instructions included were clear and to the point. I think it took me around a half hour to get the job done. Whisper soft is no lie! You can not slam this toilet seat. Gone are the heart attack days of my boys slamming/dropping the other one. I want grand babies people! This has an added safety bonus with no slamming. When my guys were little the thought of a toilet seat slamming on their fingers or other unmentionable things made me shudder!

Don't forget my biggest concern as the little fellas were learning to use the toilet. When they were just barely old enough to stand and pee I was afraid the lid would fall down and smash the family jewels but the slow closing lid prevents this! Seriously, I would accompany the boys every time they had to go, what a hassle then what a relief!
We did debate on the whisper soft close or not. I have no idea what keeps it from slamming but its awesome. I thought after time it would eventually begin to close faster or begin to slam, but it hasn't. Yes, the family jewels are protected from the toilet seat. Flying baseballs and light saber fights not so much.
Five years later, I came across this blog while doing a Google search for the easiest to clean toilet seat. Yours seems to still be the only toilet seat review! I had never dreamed of spending so much on a *toilet seat* (even though I got it for about $30 less for choosing a somehow less desirable shade of white?) and I seriously hope it lives up to promise. My toddler son routinely makes the toilet stink by managing to pee onto the back of the toilet, where it seeps under the plastic bolts and down the holes. I really hope that this happens less with this seat or I just give up. It just arrived and was installed today; wish me luck!
Haha Melanie! I think people just don't want to talk about toilet seats. I'm still using that sucker. I love that I can pop it off to deep clean. It's a nasty job, but with kiddos, you just gotta. Being able to turn those cover things just made it so much easier for me. Best of luck to you. It does get easier when they are older, but I don't think they ever.truly.figure.out.good.aim.
