Cannot Close Destination File

I have recently built a ZETASBC V2 board complete with Floppy Disk drive and a PPide card with a SD35VCO card attached. All appears to work pretty well, but when trying to copy files to the (SDCard) D: Disk I get the 'Cannot close Destination File' Error Message. I have checked that the SDCard is NOT Write protected. If I do 'STAT' from B: I get:-

A: R/W Space: 184k

B: R/W Space:   22k

D: R/W Space:  8176k 

At boot I get:

Hi,

Happy to try and help.  Let me ask for a bit more information to start with.

First, would you mind posting the entire boot log?  This will help me understand the full context of your system including version numbers.

Second, I want to make sure I understand how the SD35VCO board is attached to your system.  The Zeta V2 has a 34 pin parallel port.  Normally, an adapter is used to convert between the 34-pin parallel port and a 40-pin IDE interface.  Is that what you are doing?

Finally, did you copy one of the RomWBW hard disk images to your SD Card?  Typically, you would copy hd1k_combo.img to the SD Card using a raw copy tool such as Win32DiskImager.

Yes I have an adapter connected to the parallel port via 34 pin ribbon, and the 40 pin connected to the SD card/IDE board.

I also copied hd1k_combo.img to the SD Card using Win32DiskImager.

Can you print the disk partition with FDISK80 again?  The one you supplied earlier does not match what I would expect after copying hd1k_combo.img to the SD Card.  I am wondering if there is an issue with how your modern computer is writing the raw disk image to the SD Card.

I’m not sure if it is the issue, but I suggest you disable the PPP driver in your case.  It has a Conflicting port address with the PPIDE driver.

Correct.  Update config, rebuild, and update ROM.

I just finished putting together your exact config including the SD35VCO.  I am not seeing any issues even with the conflicting PPP driver enabled.  It doesn't look like there are any obvious software issues.  It is definitely worth disabling the PPP driver and trying again.  I have some other stuff to attend to, but will think about this some more.

I should mention that this seems very odd.  The fact that FDISK80 is working and showing valid sector data means that the interface is basically OK.

Do you have any SD Cards with a smaller capacity.  128GB is very large and maybe there is an overflow somewhere.  I am currently testing a 32GB card with no trouble.

Thanks Wayne. I have now used a SanDisk Ultra 32GB Card and it looks like FDISK80 sees it as 158Gb !!

Hmmm... this looks like there are bit error(s) somewhere.  I doubt the issue is between the CPU and the 8255 (because the issues would be more severe).  However, you have a connection from the 8255 to the adapter and the adapter to the SD35VCO.  The problem could also be in the adapter itself unless you have verified it independently.

Thank you to all...I found the problem: A bridged couple of pins on the parallel port underside of the ZetaV2. I now have a D: drive full of files, Note to self: 'pay proper attention to soldering!!'
