Found an interesting review of the market posted on the FreeRTOS pages, produced by EETimes last year.

The Embedded Markets Study 2019 shows 4% of developers are considering Zilog Z80 family for their next 16 bit project, and 5% are considering it for their next 8 bit project.
But, it looks like no developers are currently using Zilog Z80 family, if I'm reading correctly. That seems like an incongruous set of views.

Anyway, it passed half an hour of SI to read the whole study.

Enjoy, Phillip

I don't know many developers considering an 8/16bit project at all. So it could be that 4% of nothing is.. nothing 8)

MOST embedded projects are 8/16 bits.
There are tens of 8/16 embedded CPUs in a modern car.
Even screwdrivers :)     [the wowstick]

Basically, everything but "computers" (servers, desktops, laptops, internet infrastructures), tablets and phones is 8/16 bits.
