Could anybody point me to an CP/M text editor I could use in batch mode: ie: in a submit file.
I've looked at ED but it seems it needs interactive input to handle mass changes on different length files - but maybe I'm wrong.

In theory, you could use ED in combination with XSUB so that you can script the ED commands. I've recently been looking into SUBMIT and believe it has a limit of 128 lines in a SUB file, so that may limit how much editing you can do. I forget if ED supports robust enough commands to allow you to alter a file if you don't already know exactly what it looks like (compared to things like ed/sed in Unix/Linux). There have been projects over the years to backport some Unix utils to CP/M. I know there have been ones for 'vi', but am not sure about ed/sed.
