This is a beautiful song, with beautiful lyrics. Maxwell sings that there shall come a time when there will be no feelings or residuals to hold her to him anymore. He believes that one day he will have to let her go. He is afraid that if he holds on to her, she will then be afraid to spread her pretty wings, and here i suppose he meant her soul. Simple music video.I think the fact that it has different women all dressed the same symbolizes the fact that no matter which woman it is out there, she deserves to be loved ? Watch the video maxwell- pretty wings

The caliber of his music is unmatched so I will not even try to rank his work. His albums are a mood- just depends on what you want to hear at the moment, but I was shocked Embrya was ranked number one! I feel that this record is so under appreciated.

His critically acclaimed 'The Night Tour' also topped Pollstar's 2022 list of "Top 20 Global Concert Tours," determined by average box office gross and the average ticket price for shows worldwide. Maxwell's upcoming 'blacksummers'NIGHT' will cap off a journey he first embarked upon over a decade ago as one of the most-anticipated R&B events of 2023.

New York, NY (August 22, 2018) - Sony Music's Certified Classics, Legacy Recording's division for the celebration of Sony Music's Hip Hop and R&B catalogue, will release Maxwell's Embrya on September 28th. The release will include a 2-LP white vinyl package and a new 12-page booklet featuring unseen photos from the original Embrya photoshoot shot by Mario Sorrenti. The audio has been newly re-mastered by Maxwell and Stuart Matthewman, who has worked with Maxwell for over 20 years and who mixed and co-produced the album in 1998. Additionally, it has been resequenced, moving the original opening track to the end.

Embrya, which was originally released in 1998, reached #2 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and #3 on the Billboard 200 and went Certified platinum. It also garnered Maxwell a GRAMMY Award nomination for best R&B album. The album remains an integral chapter in Maxwell's career canon. He switched up from the jazzier leanings of Urban Hang Suite to stronger basslines, lush strings, electronic beats and more pulsating beats and grooves versus melodies--with Hawaiian guitar riffs and Latin accents thrown in for good measure. And whereas the retro-souled Suite's concept revolved around romance, Embrya takes the musical discussion to the next level: the gestation of love and spirituality.

Launched in 2016, Certified creates opportunities to discuss, revisit, and renew interest in a genre that shaped an entire culture, making the leap from a grassroots form of expression to a mainstream juggernaut with staying power. Heizo and Tazu Uyeda immigrated to Gallup from Kumamoto prefecture in Japan, two of only 8 Japanese immigrants in New Mexico in 1900. Other families from the same region also settled in Gallup: the Miruyamas, who were related to the Uyedas through adoption, and the Kimuras, Tairas, and Teshimas. Like many first generation Japanese migrants, Heizo worked in the coal mines. Tazu opened a boarding house that at its peak housed some 600 miners! In subsequent decades, members of the Miruyama/Uyeda family opened shops, small businesses, and restaurants, and became embedded in the local economy. Frank Uyeda, son of Heizo and Tazu, took many of the photographs in the family albums, which depict family gatherings and celebrations, visits to Japan, and work and daily life over several generations.
