1. An Equal World
Some individuals, like the world renowned author Ved Mehta, and Im
Dong-Hyun, the South Korean archer and Olympic gold medallist, far
outperform their normatively ‘better endowed’ counterparts [both Mehta
and Im happen to be visually impaired]. A blind applicant who consents
to a face-to-face interview with a sighted person or a student who
sits down to dictate answers in an examination that her/ his sighted
counterparts will write are also achievers.

6. Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP)
by Dr Lingam Gopal
In a majority of premature babies, the retina resumes the process of
progressive vascularisation and the previously avascular retina will
get normally vascularized. In a percentage of the premature babies
however, the retina fails to have normal vascularisation and over time
they develop a process of abnormal vascularisation – termed
‘Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP)’.

7. The Draft Rights of Persons With Disabilities Bill 2012: An Essay
“Once social barriers to the re-integration of people with physical
impairments are removed the disability itself is eliminated. The

9. Open Your Eyes, Empower Your Vision
By G. Vamshi *
As the Manager Communications of Retina India, I get to interact with
many people with visual impairment, and at times, their family members
also. And at these interactions, the questions I am most frequently
asked are: “When is the treatment going to come for retinal
disorders?” and “When can we see again?”. But after I started
interacting with friends in Retina India, I realized something:
treatment for retinal disorders is already available.
