I can pair the device in Android bluetooth settings, and if I then go in to Connect and try to pair with the device name from the Android bluetooth settings, it gets part way through and then fails. If I try and pair direct in Garmin Connect (without it being paired in the Android bluetooth settings) but it doesn't go anywhere. Each time I try, I unpair it from Android etc. but nothing seems to get it working. Also, in Garmin Connect, it no longer auto-detects the Edge 520 when it itself is in pairing mode - I need to 'tell' Garmin Connect it is an Edge, then a 520 and then it tries to connect but fails.
I double checked my Android 1030 to see if it still works, and it recognised the phone after the Android 13 update, so fortunately haven't had to repair it. Same with my Fenix 6x watch - there before and after the Android 13 update and still working/syncing in Garmin Connect.
Same issue with a Pixel 6. I upgraded ir to Android 13 a week ago. I can't pair with my 520+ even followintg the correct pairing process, from the Garmin APP as PeterK_55. I did it many times before, but now is impossible. I tries even reinstalling the Garmin APP.
@PeterK_55 Thanks, but I've tried these steps but to no avail. I'm hoping that Garmin will address this in either an 520 update or an app update. They may be waiting for the new iPhone launch and the imminent ios16 update that will coincide. Or it is possible they figure the 520 is 'old' now and don't both about it working on the newer phone operating systems. I'll contact Garmin support to see what they say.
So, I've just run through the process again and it works! It pairs in the way it should do - paired it in android bluetooth settings first, and then paired it in the garmin app. I can only assume that an update to the garmin connect app in the past week or so has fixed the issue.
I suspect there is something up with the Garmin Connect app, and although there is similarities, my post was specific to the Edge 520 (not plus) and Android 13 (not 12). Glad you managed to fix your issue in the end.
When attempting to connect the Garmin Approach R10 to my new Android based tablet, the Garmin Golf App tells me I must install Garmin Connect in order to connect my device to the tablet. When I install Garmin Connect, I can find the R10 just fine, but when I attempt to connect it, Garmin Connect tells me to "Install The Latest Version of the Garmin Golf App".......which Is already installed. Then, the whole connection process becomes a VERY frustrating loop.................. and the R!0 never connects. Can anyone help? Garmin could not.
When I first tried the R10, I used my phone but realized I didn't want my phone as the main unit if my son wants to use the R10. I took out an old android phone, installed the Garmin Golf app and tried to connect. Problem was since it was already "connected" to Garmin Golf, it didn't try to go through the pairing with the new phone. I had to remove the device from Golf and then add it back in and go through the Bluetooth paring again. Works fine now without Garmin Connect as Garmin Golf is the only app on the phone. Did you have the R10 connected to a different device first?
I think I figured out a workaround. I was trying to pair my new R10 to a Samsung tablet and getting the "Install The Latest Version of the Garmin Golf App" loop. When I downloaded the golf app on my tablet , the play store gave me version 1.5.1 or something close to that. My phone has version 2.2.2.
I just downloaded and successfully installed v2.6.1 from apkcombo.com onto my Samsung Tab S7 tablet. This worked, and I can now connect to my new R10 using my Samsung tablet. Thanks for posting the solution! It remains a mystery why Garmin have not resolved this basic issue in the last year...
But I get a notification CONSTANTLY showing that I am STILL PLAYING. It won't go away. I click on it and try Save again. Resume and save. Nothing happens. The only way to rid myself if this is a discard the round. Meaning I lose it completely. This works fine.
Getting the same on my Android. Up until today discarding the round supposedly being played worked, but today deleted the ghost round and it deleted the saved round. Previously had only deleted the ghost round.
Yeah I'm getting this too. A few weeks ago I discarded the round and it deleted both from my phone. My actual round was luckily still on my watch so I plugged it in and found scorecard activity file and was able to re upload it into garmin website. It then showed in the app. Haven't tried it with the one from yesterday yet though as was hoping there would be a better solution
I received a response from Garmin to a review on the Google Play store. They said "We are aware of the scorecard saving issue and we're working on a fix for it". So looks like it is an acknowledged bug and hopefully be an update to fix soon.
I would like to write an Android App that can display in real time data being collected on my Garmin Watch.....reading I can see that there's an Android BLE SDK, which sounds like what I need, but I'd appreciate any pointers in how to get started, and which IDE to use....
I'll obviously need to write an Android App, which I've previously done in Android Studio, but since there's a Connect-IQ plugin for Eclipse, I'm thinking I would be better to write my Android App in Eclipse....could anybody confirm, or redirect me?
I'm not clear on whether I need to write a Garmin App or not, the data I want to display on my Android App is the data currently available in the standard Activities....specifically the Rowing Activity, I want to get the Stroke Rate, and Pace currently recorded there, but will I be able to connect to that activity from my Android App, or do I need to write my own Rowing App for the watch?
I think Android Studio is definitely going to be the best IDE to use to develop your android companion app, especially if you are already familiar with it. The Connect IQ plug-in for eclipse is meant for developing apps for Garmin devices. There's a helpful guide for getting started with the Mobile SDK here. One thing to note is that you need to target Android 10 or earlier. When I tried targeting Android 11, my app wouldn't recognize that Garmin Connect Mobile was installed on my phone. Once I learned that, I found the development process pretty straightforward following the guide provided by Garmin.
I have a problem with my Garmin heart rate monitor (HRM Dual) that connects to Strava but not showing heart rate. Started when changed to new phone: Google Pixel 8 Pro with Android 14, have allowed evertyhing, i think.. HRM Sensor works fine in my Garmin 530 unit
After researching the HR Connection problem for the past 4 hours. I finally found the solution in an iphone thread from 2021. HRM Dual when actually connected over the bluetooth interface of android, it somehow stops to work with all the apps.
The only way to restore the functionality was to completely reset the wifi and bluetooth of your phone. (Search for reset bluetooth in the settings.) Forgetting the device only doesn't work.
Hello, I have just bought a Garmin Dual HRM. The sensor is paired to my iPhone, but Strava does not see it. I reset all settings on my iPhone, as described in this thread, but the HRM still does not pop up in the available sensors. Is there any solution?
Hi again! Thanx. Tried all of these but my guess is that this might be some kind of bug with Android 14? I have allowed the Strava app all permissions. The Garmin monitor connects instantly in the Strava app, but no heart rate shows. Tried to forget and reconnect in both phone and app. Changed to new battery in sensor aswell.
