Hi, as a follow up to my previous question (and after the solution); I installed the Autodesk app to my desk top and was able to install the Autodesk infraworks updater plugin' this way. I also installed the revit add ins available but am still struggling to export my bridge model to Revit. There is no "Send to Revit" option when I right click (but there is a "Publish Civil Structures" - "Create New" option. This only allows me to create a bridge.imx file. This I can then import to Revit (Add ins > Import Civil Structures > bridge.imx). This brings in the model, but I cant edit anything as all the elements are "Direct shapes"(??). Please advise what I am doing wrong as it is driving me mad! Software used is Infraworks 2022 and Revit 2022

The Send to Revit command was changed to Publish Civil Structures in the latest release. So you have the workflow correct. The bridge is exported to IMX and then the IMX is imported into Revit with the plugin. The elements can not be edited once in Revit. The only things you can really do in Revit with the bridge elements is add rebar, dimensioning, creating sections, views etc. If a bridge element needs to be changed then that change needs to happen in Infraworks. Once the element is changed in Infraworks you can run the command Publish Civil Structures -> Update Existing. This will update the existing IMX file which will then in turn update the bridge in Revit. You will get a pop up dialog in Revit that says the bridge has been updated. Once you hit Ok to that then the bridge gets updated in Revit. I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions in regards to that workflow.

Cheers for the reply. I'll keep this in mind for future. I did figure out the issue though. A few weeks back I logged onto a colleagues computer for a student to use (which I forgot about). The student was then logged in as me, but without being logged into Autodesk, hence the reason revit was recognising two different names. To solve this I just logged my colleagues computer again. Syncronised and closed the model, then deleted the local file from my colleagues computer and logged off their computer again. Took a bit of head scratching but it's sorted now.

I have an object in Max which is a Wall, I know that it is a wall in Max and same Object with the type I want to export to Revit. I came to know that DWG or DXF files are supported in Revit which i can easily export form the Max too. So I have exported my My Max object into dwg format and simply import in the Revit but unfortunately it is showing Plane.DWG type. Is this possible to export from max with attributes? at least type attribute that it is wall or floor etc? I know that mechanics of both tools are different but maybe there is any workaround available to do this?

As you can see i have different object which formaing this house, it has wall, door and roof. whenever i import these objects in revit through (DWG or whatever format) every object should display its type (like marked in the pics). Is this possible? with plugin or without plugin or some export/import settings? If i do it in mass model way (like you mentioned) then, it is equally time taking, i have to model it again.

Yeah, I know that but what will you do if you have a large project in max and you want to bring it in revit? Will you spend so many days again? you will model all the things again? I just want to know that a workaround that at least enable me to get the object type automatically.

I don't see how it could be possible. It's like writing a document in notepad and expecting it to be formatted in MS Word. Even if it somehow were possible with some sort of plugin, the amount of extra steps and time it would take would negate any time you've saved by modelling in 3DS Max.

First, you got Twinmotion with your Revit subscription. Then, with Revit 2024 and Twinmotion 2023, auto-synch tightened the workflow between 3D modeling and photoreal visualization, so you could quickly and easily bring your ideas and inspiration to life through a desktop-to-cloud data connection. Now, Revit and Twinmotion are even better together with SSO. Use your Autodesk ID to access the immersive power of Twinmotion, no other login necessary. Available for Revit 2024.2 and Twinmotion 2023.2.

The release of Revit 2023 delivered documentation workflows, providing productivity, efficiency, and interoperability enhancements that help individual users and project teams produce better design deliverables, faster, and with less re-work and repetition. We recently launched a new Hub for Revit where customers can take a deeper dive into all the features and innovations delivered in Revit since 2019.

Autodesk Revit is a building information modelling software for architects, landscape architects, structural engineers, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineers, designers and contractors. The original software was developed by Charles River Software, founded in 1997, renamed Revit Technology Corporation in 2000, and acquired by Autodesk in 2002. The software allows users to design a building and structure and its components in 3D, annotate the model with 2D drafting elements, and access building information from the building model's database.[1] Revit is 4D building information modeling application capable with tools to plan and track various stages in the building's lifecycle, from concept to construction and later maintenance and/or demolition.

Charles River Software was founded in Newton, Massachusetts, on October 31, 1997, by Leonid Raiz and Irwin Jungreis, key developers of PTC's Pro/Engineer software for mechanical design, with the intent of bringing the power of parametric modeling to the building industry (PTC had previously tried and failed to market its recently acquired Reflex software to the construction sector).[2] With funding from venture capitalists Atlas Venture and North Bridge Venture Partners, Raiz and Jungreis hired several software developers and architects and began developing Revit in C++ on the Microsoft Windows platform. In 1999 they hired Dave Lemont as CEO and recruited board members Jon Hirschtick, founder of SolidWorks, and Arol Wolford, founder of CMD Group.

With their Revit platform, Autodesk is a significant player in the BIM market together with Tekla Structures, Trimble, Bentley Systems and the Nemetschek group (owner of Graphisoft's BIM application ArchiCAD, plus solutions including Allplan and Vectorworks), among others.

The software was initially offered only as a monthly rental, with no option to purchase. Licensing was controlled by an entirely automatic process, an innovation at a time when human intervention and manual transmission of authorization codes was required to buy other types of design software.[8]

The Revit work environment allows users to manipulate whole buildings or assemblies (in the project environment) or individual 3D shapes (in the family editor environment). Modeling tools can be used with pre-made solid objects or imported geometric models. However, Revit is not a NURBS modeller and also lacks the ability to manipulate an object's individual polygons except on some specific object types such as roofs, slabs, and terrain or in the massing environment.
