Office Hours
The office at RUMC will still be open for a couple of weeks, so if you need to stop by to pick up a directory or Upper Room, feel free to do that! Joanie will be moving back and forth some between RUMC and Calvary during the week, so you might want to call first to be sure you can access the building.
Wednesday Word
Wednesday Word is the email newsletter that is published weekly at Calvary UMC. If you would like to receive the newsletter, please email pathwa...@calvarync.org and ask to be added. Both Wednesday Word and the regular Thursday email announcements from RUMC will continue for a few weeks. Be sure you don’t miss out on anything—sign up to be on both mailing lists!
Game Night!
Join your RUMC and Calvary friends for a game night on Saturday, February 23 at 6:00 pm at the home of Buddy and Bob (100 W. Club Blvd., Durham). We will play charades, Yahtzee, Clue, etc. and enjoy an evening of food, fun, and fellowship – hope to see you there!
Chili Cook-Off/Community Meal
The February community meal at Calvary is a chili cook-off, with prizes awarded for the best chili and the best cornbread. This event is Tuesday, February 26, and the community surrounding Calvary is invited to attend – all are welcome!
RUMC Senior Adults
The senior adults will meet for lunch on Wednesday, February 27 at 11:30 at Denny’s, located at 7021 Highway 751 #901 in Durham. This is in the shopping center past Jordan High School (there is a Harris Teeter in this center as well), and Denny’s faces highway 751. We hope that you will join us there, and please invite friends to join you!
Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper
We will celebrate Shrove Tuesday of March 5th from 6:00-7:30 pm with a traditional pancake supper. Please come out and join us!
Save the Date – CROP WALK April 7
The 2019 CROP Walk is on Sunday, April 7th, and Calvary and RUMC will have a joint team. We hope everyone will participate in this important event by either walking or sponsoring someone who is walking. You can sign up at https://www.crophungerwalk.org/durhamnc/Team/View/95135/Calvary-Resurrection
CARVE and Githens Contributions
We will continue to support the Urban Ministries Food Pantry, joining with Calvary in their ongoing gifts to this ministry. There is a basket under the prayer table where you my leave your gifts on any Sunday. Our brothers and sisters at Calvary are accustomed to bringing their gifts on the second Sunday of each month, but RUMC folks who would like to continue the discipline of weekly gifts are welcome to do so.
The Serve Team also plans for us to continue supporting the students at Githens Middle School and will be working with the folks at Calvary to identify a place for collecting these items. More information will follow.
Damascus Road Sunday School 9:30-10:30 Each Sunday
Damascus Road Sunday School IS meeting each Sunday morning at Calvary. This class uses the Upper Room devotional guide as a curriculum, and everyone is invited to join them. If you have questions, Sandra Shepherd is the person to contact (information in the directory).
Stories of Divine Desire – New Study at Calvary
During this season of Epiphany, join us for Stories of Divide Desire, as we take a deep dive into the Luke-Acts narratives. We’ll engage in different communal reading practices as we attend to the revolutionary work of the Spirit in the book of Acts. This study begins Sunday, February 3 at 5:30 in the education building.
