Role: Resident Engineer

Location: Richardson TX

Client: Verizon

Duration: Long term

Minimum Experience: 7+ Years Mandatory

Wind River Cloud Experience is Must

 

The Resident Engineer role requires the understanding of the technical requirements of major networking and telecom operators. A team member will need to leverage Wind River’s Cloud Platform to deliver a geographically distributed, high-performance, production grade CaaS solution deployed in an edge cloud infrastructure.

The team member must have experience in software engineering with a strong focus on Telecom and data networking. They will need to apply their technical expertise and their passion for open source to understand the customer’s problems and develop solutions using Wind River’s product offerings and services.

A qualified resource is expected to be hands-on in the deployment of Wind River’ Cloud platform.

Resident Engineer activities would include:
Understand and assist Customer’s 5G deployment leveraging Wind River Cloud Platform.
Participate in Customer’s software and system lifecycle processes to ensure incorporation and updating of Wind River’s products are planned and executed successfully.
Be comfortable with building, reconfiguring, and provisioning lab equipment such as servers, real and virtual routers and networks in both Wind River and customers’ lab environments.
The position is currently viewed as a remote position – as such, travel is not required at this time.
Maintenance window activities as needed. Specifically, night time work may be required
Developing and executing automation scripts
Leveraging orchestration technologies for management of remote deployments.


What we expect by way of qualifications:

Experience with direct customer facing positions and comfortable with customers and issue resolution skills.
The ability to work within a team & independently on multiple high priority projects.

Experience in open-source projects such as StarlingX, docker, Kubernetes, OpenStack
Automation expertise leveraging: Python, Ansible, GO, Jenkins
Orchestration expertise leveraging: NFVD, ECM, OOO, Heat, C

Cloudify:
Expertise in virtualization: containers and/or virtual machines
Linux (Centos, Redhat) background covering deployment, image build, application development, and administration.
