I am posting this response more than 2 years since the first (and only) edition of "Rest in Practice" was published in Sept 2010 and yet a complete set of source code is still not available.  To be more precise, all the .Net source code has been uploaded, but only 1 out of 13 Java programs have been uploaded to the restinpractice.com website.

In scouring the posts on this forum, it appears to me that Savas, the Microsoft author, uploaded all the .Net code but the two ThoughtWorks authors have not put any thought into uploading their Java code.

This is troublesome.  I have been enjoying the book so far (currently reading Chapter 4 on CRUD), but the information leaves a lot to the imagination because code sample in the book leave out big blocks of logic for the sake of brevity.  The authors will reference an unseen function like extractOrderFromRequest() just so they can have one line of code but then if they are going to do that, they MUST MAKE THE SOURCE CODE AVAILABLE!!!  Hey, I am reading the book because I do not know the technology, so I don't want anything left out.

Hello,

We actually have put some thought into releasing the Java source code - however we may not have the rights to distribute the libraries as we see fit. Hence we can release the source that we own today, but you'll then have to figure out our dependencies in order to build and run that source.

To be honest the code that we posted in the book really is the important stuff - the full examples are otherwise just full of fairly unimportant domain logic.

Still, in the interests of letting you see all the boring bits, I'll zip up the Java source for C3, 4, 5, 7, 8 and upload it today.

Hello, I tried today (January 3, 2013) to download the source code samples in Java for chapter 5 from "http://restinpractice.com/book/sourcecode.html", but both zipped containers: "Chapter5-JavaOrderingClient.zip" and "Chapter5-JavaOrderingService.zip" seems to be damaged and cannot be opened succesfully while "Chapter5-JavaClientService.zip" does perfectly. I am most interested in explore the details because your book is one of my MUST HAVE books in my shelf. Congratulations for the excellent work.

Pablo.

Hi Pablo

I replaced those files this morning. Have another go and let us know if it's still not working.
