We want to build a SDP whose primary function is to be a sms aggregator/gateway at scale of >= 1000 msg/sec.

How can we use restcomm to connect to a Web Services based SMSC endpoint? We should also be able to route incomming REST SMS requests into different endpoints.

I can't find good documentation on restcomm.

Yes Ivelin, and that seems to send SMPP‌, Our SMSC should be called by Web Services.

Currently Restcomm connects to SMSC over SIP using SIP MESSAGE.

You can look at the code and suggest an enhancement for HTTP connector.

Here is the current Restcomm open source community code repo:

Which SMSC vendor and version are you using?

The key would be to design the connector in a way that is not tied to a particular SMSC implementation but allows flexibility for multiple implementations.

We are behind another SDP which provides customized Web Services access to an operator SMSC.
There are two black points for me here:

1) there should be high complexity, and less flexibility when working on mobicents/restcomm
2) I'm not sure if restcomm/mobicents can handle 1000 msg/sec scale?

1) What do you mean exactly ?
I mean why should somebody try to learn/adopt things like mobicents/restcomm insteading of rolling their home made integrations over opensource middleware (Message Queues + Camel + SMPP + ...) ? what benefits one could make?
Mobicents technology/terminology is heavy for new comers, when I hanged around restcomm I found it also has a learning curve and hard to use/adopt, so they seem more complex to me than a home made SDP.
Am I in correct sense?

2) Yes it can. SMSC a

s well.
Any real documented, written experiences/productions?

Hi Behrad,

Mobicents/Restcomm is open source.

I am not aware of any other open source project that can help you with SMS connectivity to core SS7 networks. Please let me know if you know of any. I am only aware of other open source projects with SMPP and SIP connectivity for SMS.

When was the last time you played with Restcomm? Development is moving very fast. If it has been a few months, you may want to take another look.

Regards,

Ivelin
