Dear all,

We are happy to present our official ‘Guidance and Recommendations For Ambitious Nature Restoration Plans’ report to you!

What is the report about? As you all know, the Nature Restoration Law requires Member States to develop and adopt National Restoration Plans (NRPs) detailing how they will achieve the law’s targets and obligations. Drafting coherent and ambitious NRPs is key to successfully implementing the law. Our ‘Guidance and Recommendations For Ambitious Nature Restoration Plans’ report provides insights and advice to help navigate the legal requirements of the law, focusing on the preparation, drafting and finalisation of NRPs. The report outlines the stepwise approach for Member States to develop their NRPs, so the detailed explanations provided in the report will be useful for civil society organisations, Member State authorities and all relevant actors involved in the process.

The report was written by the Institute for European Environmental Policy, with contributions from WWF European Policy Office, BirdLife Europe and Central Asia, ClientEarth and the European Environmental Bureau.

You can find at the following links:

You can also find at this link a Communications Pack to promote the report on your channels, with messages and visuals as usual. The report will be published on Monday 7 October 2024 so please don’t post it on your channels before then!

All these materials are stored on the #RestoreNature drive in these folders: Resources & Communications toolkits.

The content of the report and more information about the implementation of the Nature Restoration Law will be the topic of our next #RestoreNature meeting that will take place on Thursday 17 October 2024 from 14.30-16.30 CEST (Brussels time). Attached to this email you will find the calendar invitation, and here below is the link to join:

              Zoom meeting: https://birdlife.zoom.us/j/84381104034?pwd=D79usVvOr4ypz0aUubtJNf9lwLboUe.1

WWF European Policy Office and the Global Rewilding Alliance (GRA) would also like to invite you to join their online webinar for policymakers ‘Nature restoration: a powerful climate-policy option for Europe’ on Tuesday 15th October 2024, at 4 pm CEST. You can register for the event here.

In this webinar, scientists and policy experts will explore how nature restoration can help countries achieve their climate goals under the Paris Agreement, and their biodiversity targets under the Kunming-Montreal Biodiversity Framework. Guidance will be presented on how nature restoration can help governments achieve their Nationally Determined Contributions. You can find the agenda of the meeting attached to this email.

Best,

Erica
