RESTFest Greenville is coming September 15-17. Here's the latest news from Greenville, SC...

ERIK WILDE KEYNOTE

RESTFest is proud to announce that our keynote for 2016 will be delivered by Erik Wilde. Wilde is Director of Technologies for CA Technologies, and part of CA's API Academy and his talk "Dissecting the Web" looks to be a great one. Be sure to check out his keynote page for details:https://github.com/RESTFest/2016-Greenville/wiki/Keynote

ATTENDANCE TRACKING

We've got almost 20 ppl registered as of August 5th. That's not too bad. Our goal for this year is 40 people and we're almost half-way there with six weeks to go. Feel free to share the registration link w/ friends and colleagues. RESTFest is a great place to meet new ppl and we're always looking for new POVs and skills to share. http://2016.restfest.org/us/

UPDATE YOUR PEOPLE PAGE

Be sure to add your People Page to the wiki. While we have 20 ppl registered, we have less than five People Pages so far. This is a chance to post your proposed talks, tell us a bit about yourself, and get to know others who will be attending. https://github.com/RESTFest/2016-Greenville/wiki/people

Remember, at RESTFest everyone talks and everyone listens! That means we need to get to know you and your People Page is the best way to introduce yourself.

TWEETING RESTFest

We've started sending out tweets thanking sponsors and recognizing participants and their talks. We'd love to include YOU in this tweet-stream! To make sure you get some twitter-juice from the @RESTFest account, be sure to update your profile page w/ at least one proposed talk topic. https://github.com/RESTFest/2016-Greenville/wiki/people

Of course, we'd love it if you'd RT the tweets from the @RESTFest account. Also feel free to post your own SocNet announcements using #RESTFest and/or @RESTFest.

HACKDAY UPDATE

The HackDay this year is a wide open session. Feel free to come ready to work on any project you have in mind. Add your project to the HackDay Landing Page and let's see what happens.https://github.com/RESTFest/2016-Greenville/wiki/HackDay

BTW - In some past RESTFest events, HackDay has been an all out, giant project where everyone can join in. If you have an idea for a big project and are willing to help lead the group, add that to the Hack Day Landing Page and let's see what happens!

STACKDAY TUTORIAL OPPORTUNITIES

Friday StackDay -- a chance for you to show off your favorite library, tools, etc. We've got two sessions confirmed for StackDay so far and usually like to see at least five or more. If you're enjoying a library, tool, language, etc. feel free to add it to this page.https://github.com/RESTFest/2016-Greenville/wiki/StackDay

BOARDGAMES NIGHT

Traditionally, Friday night is BoardGames Night at RESTFest. Bring your card games, tabletop games, anything you like and have some fun. If you plan to bring some games, add them to the Board Games page in the wiki. https://github.com/RESTFest/2016-Greenville/wiki/BoardGames

EXTENDED TALKS

Every year we like to give attendees the chance to deliver an extended talk (30 mins or so) instead of just the usual 5in5. If you'd like to deliver an Extended talk, be sure to indicate that on your profile page and we'll work as many into the schedule as we can.

Extended Talks is a great way to test out new topics and presentations you plan for other conferences or user groups. The RESTFest crowd is always ready to give positive feedback on your new ideas!

KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR INBOX

We'll continue to send updates right up until the day of the event. Keep in touch, feel free to post to the list w/ questions/suggestions and see you in two weeks.

Looking forward to seeing you in Greenville for RESTFest 2016

The RESTFest Team:

  • Ben Longden,
  • Benjamin Young,
  • Shelby Switzer,
  • Ryan MacAllan,
  • Mike Amundsen
