I am new to this software but have read the relevant posts regarding Saving my accounts at year end. Now as I understand it the date is stored in C/Program files /Responsive Software/Ledger/Database. However when I open the Database folder there is only an empty text file there. What am I missing here?

The location you refer to is where you will find the data on early versions of Windows.

However versions of Windows from Vista onwards locate the data in different places depending on the version.

The easiest way to find out where the Ledger database is located is to search you computer for the file WorkstationConfiguration.DB

This file will be located inside the Database folder which contains the Ledger database.

Matthew

I found the file on searching the Librares (Windows 7). I copied this file and then tried to copy it over to a new install of Ledger on a different laptop (with no data entered in the program. On starting Ledger I am getting this message:

The Database is not accessible.
Please check that the computer with the database is turned on.
If so check that the network is working, the BDE is configured correctly and that you have full access to the folder containing the database

Where do I go from here?

You need to copy and replace ALL the files in the Database folder not just WorkstationConfiguration.DB

This message is often caused by security settings in recent versions of Windows and requires some modification to the BDE settings.
There is some information on our website about it however would you be willing to allow me to connect to your computer remotely and fix it for you?
