When you are playing Destiny 2 you might need to forward some ports in your router. Forwarding ports is a useful trick in gaming because it can really help to make your network connection most stable and on occasion even faster. Routers were not designed to allow incoming network requests and some games can play tremendously better if an incoming connection is forwarded through the router to the game.
We use and recommend NordVPN because not only is it the fastest VPN, it includes a new feature called Meshnet that makes forwarding a port no longer necessary for most applications. With NordVPN Meshnet, you can connect to your devices from anywhere in the world, completely secure, over a highly encrypted VPN tunnel.
Once you've set up your NordVPN account on multiple computers and enabled Meshnet, you can seamlessly access all of your devices as if they were on the same network. You don't even have to log in to your router. It's very simple.
The easiest way to do this is to use Network Utilities. Network Utilities can forward your ports in just a few clicks, and close them back down when you are done just as easily. You can also do it the manual way.
You might notice that most of our site doesn't have ads on it. This is because we use partnerships with companies like NordVPN to keep the site running. Thank you for supporting us by using our referral links.

When you use TP im sure you said that it cancels out QoS Congestion control and the bandwidth allocator however when im in game whether i use TP or not im always getting the bandwidth allocated and congestion control amounts.
Traffic Prioritization supersedes QoS that's right, however as you've just chosen the ports for the game and not the ones required for a speed test, the speed test/speed is unaffected by TP and will therefore adhere to your other QoS settings. You can use the DMZ if you wish to in order to get an Open NAT, it will not negatively impact TP.
Hi. My ISP just got me a new MODEM/ROUTER CenturyLink Calix 844G-1 that i turned the WIFI off. My connection is the 844G-1 > R1 via ethernet. I want to open ports for Destiny 2 on PC and questions are:
Yes, im having some NAT problems on Destiny 2. I want my NAT Open and not moderated. Sometimes, im getting booted from comptetive matches and sometimes it takes a lot to find a lobby. Also, with the old Modem, i couldnt open any port for any game due some restrictions and policies of my ISP. Now the policies have changed, i have a new Modem and i can freely open any ports but im not sure how to do it properly.

Destiny 2 on Steam is the only the game im playing right now and Filtering Mode is always off. I think filtering mode ON, does not work with Destiny properly. Also, strict, auto ping, and fast search are off. Yes, sometimes i get error codes and booted from lobbies. Also, there is something funny i found on Ping Heat Map. Theres a 40ms ping for Destiny 2 located in Chile. What does this could mean? Should i try Filtering mode on the radius of that server?
Hello Fraser, Thanks for the reply and helping.
Im checking the NAT status in game, i do not know how to check the NAT Status on Windows. It always says Moderate. Yes, i did a few port forwarding rules on the R1, the ones that are on the Bungie website that are above. I dont know how to set the DMZ on the R1, can you provide an example? The UPnP on the R1 is still ON.
How do i force that server? Should i use Filtering ON, Strict ON and set Ping Assist to 40ms? or Filtering OFF, Strict ON and Ping Assist 40ms?
I'd suggest removing those Port Forwarding rules, very unlikely you need them as UPnP is enabled on the router and the game is only dictating the one it wants. You probably don't need to set the DMZ and I would not recommend doing so for the PC as it is a security risk.
